For some reason I cannot reply directly to Larry's post on this forum, so I had to start this new post.

I use an excellent SEO software application called Website Insight from Coffee Cup software. It does a total analysis of your website and then provides a list of shortcomings and comprehensive solutions for the SEO problems.

Basically, the key to SEO is to have numerous relevant keywords on your site pages that come up frequently, and match these to what is contained in the page descriptions as well as inside the H-tags. You will often hear the expression, "Content is King."

Recently, Google has started ranking sites that have SSL certificates higher than those that do not. That is, your website needs to be https:// rather than http:// -- this is not done through Website X5 -- you need to set this up with your web hosting company.

Incidentally, I like Website X5 because I can control the position of any attribute on the page with pixel-perfect accuracy.

Hi Larry,

You have a good grasp of SEO, and I’d like to add that it is a “moving target,” because Google often changes the mechanics of their search engine algorithms.

It is possible to spend more time tweaking your site for optimal SEO than creating the site!

Regarding my comment on “pixel-perfect accuracy,” the unit of measurement for ALL websites is pixels, and nothing but pixels. As shown in one of my tutorials, I use a screen caliper tool to guarantee that cells and their contained objects are exactly where I want them to be. I used to go nuts when trying to control page elements in Adobe Dreamweaver.

I’ll be sorry to see you leave because your posts are “lively,” to say the least!

I may find some time over the holidays to look at the web creation alternatives that you’ve recommended.

Have a great Holiday Season, and all the best in the New Year.
