Cannot import WSX5/14 projects into WSX5/15  en

Every project that I try to import into Version 15 from the Version 14 export fails with a message similar to the attached. Sometimes the message refers to a temporary file as shown in this example and at other times it refers to files in a "Preview" folder or a midi file elsewhere.

The exported projects are on a separate disk.

The failures all refer to files in the import directory on the C-drive.

These files are handled only by WSX5/15 and therefore there is a bug in the import routines.

Looking forward to your comments.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Have you tried using step 5, export project to disk, using version 14, then start version 15 and import the project in the project selection dialog?

Regards,

Robert

Paul, you may also wish to confirm there is no issue by importing back into v14 (this will not overwrite the existing project), but in any case, always after a restart of the PC or laptop.

You might also like to (temporarily) turn of any antivirus and real-time backup/sync software (could your documents be synchonising to the cloud?)

Hi Robert

Yes, that is what I did - export from WSX5/14 with backups and then inport into WSX5/15. It seems to me that something in the import process is locking random files and not releasing them or something similar. Temporary files are being identified as locked as well as files which have been around for a long time so I am not sure what mechanism could be the culprit. Esahc has suggested temporarily switching off antivirus and real-time backups - I will retry the import after disconnecting from the network and rebooting and will post what I find.

Cheers

Paul
