Is there a way to have all pages automatically create individual canonical tags?

I fully understand in the expert section that I can add a canonical tag to each page - manually.
Is there a way to automate this for each page for the page to refer the canonical tag to itself? Then later, if need be because pages do change or get dropped in the future, then alter it manually to a new page?
At the moment, only looking for an automated way to create the tags instead of going page at a time to manually enter it.

There is not. You know the 2 ways so explaining that has nu use, you need to use it manually on each page, that's the best way for now.
You can make an IDEA post, or I can set this post as an IDEA post so Incomedia will consider this to create in a future version.
IMHO, I think it's a very logical and usefull function to have.
