Website X5 V 16.2.1 takes very long before starts (Up to 5 min.)
After updating to 16.2.1 starts taking long time before main windows open and I could select my projects...
Nothing was change in my computer except this update.
Run Windows 10 V1803 (BUT was ok running smooth and fast prior to V 16.2.1)
Try running CCleaner and others but will not bring me back my opening speed for Website X5
All other software will open fast and ok
(Did not try to uninstall Website X5 V 16.2.1 as i'm always scared to lose something)
Thanks

Hi Pierre
If you have lot of projects in your software then it may takes few time to start up. Keep those project in your software with which you are working now.
Hope this will help you
Thank you

Hi Ani,
No only 3 projects
Pierre, are you talking about the startup time before you select which project you wish to open, or the time it takes for the project to open once you select it?
If it is before, are you aware that the minute the Start & green arrow appears you can click on it? This is what I do because of late the connection to Incomedia's server has been a bit slow, so I skip checking for program updates and go directly to my projects.
If it is taking a long time for the start & green arrow to appear, you may wish to temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall/vpn etc to see if these are blocking Incomedia, if this is the case you should be able to add an exception.
If opening project/s is slow, please advise.

Esahc,
As soon as I double click on the Website X5 icon to start Website... this is were I count 5 min.
Meaning I see (Loading Librairies) for about 10 sec.
and then (Updating Librairies) for any where from 4-5 min.
before I could click the arrow and select my project.
Once again prior to the latest update it was less then 30 sec. before selecting my project.
I also try downloading the 16.2.1 and install again on top and did not help at all.
Thanks

Esahc,
Just in case I was not clear enough about my (updating librairies)
Pierre, this looks suspiciously like something is blocking/restricting internet access to the servers. Can you (temporarily) stop or uninstall any anti-virus, malware protection (malwarebytes has been an issue in the past), firewall, vpn or cloud sync software?
If you can isolate the problem software then an exception could be put in place.
There is a post here somewhere describing how a user always diconnected from the internet, loaded WX5 and then reconnected for the same reason. To the best of my knowledge whatever software he was using now "plays nice" with wx5.
Please let us know the outcome.
Author
Esahc,
Check the internet no blocking/restricting... verify firewall nothing.
I did disabled ESET NOD32 antivirus & Malwarebytes... I have no VPN or cloud sync software.
Really not sure what to do now...
Still takes 5 min...
Thanks
Pierre, did you try with internet disconnected from PC/laptop.
I run my PC via wireless, I disconnected and ran WX5 and it started instantly (no delays).
Author
Esach,
Same long delay with internet disconnected... I do have a PC connected thru RJ-45 with 120Mbs
Pierre, that is strange. Can I assume you do not have any network storage or USB storage connected when testing without internet?
If there is a delay on startup even with the internet totally disconnected, then perhaps it is a hardware issue?
Plenty of disk space? Not too much garbage/temp files (run ccleaner - free)?
Is this PC newish?? I boot from an SSD, but some months ago I suffered unexplainable delays (mostly in wx5). I am sure it is not recommended to do this often, but I ran chkdsk and the problems went away (checking scandisk inside windows did not resolve the issue).
Open cmd as admin (type cmd in search on taskbar, right click, run as administrator)
In the DOS box type chkdsk c: /r
Answer Y (yes) and reboot. Depending on your hardweare this could take a while and because of a glitch in Win10, the progress may appear to stop around 12%. If it only takes a few seconds, please retry.
Let us know??
Author
Esach,
Yes very strange. Thanks again for your help.
***Just in case you haven't read one of my 1st mentionned is everything was running VERY FAST before version 16.2.1
as sson as I update X5 to 16.2.1 right away it started taking 5 minutes to open***
All of the above were already completed such as delete TMP / prefetch... also run CCleaner
chkdsk c: /f/r
Scannow /sfc
But nothing... but it is related to V 16.2.1 is there a way to revert to previous release as I did not download the previous version prior to V 16.2.1
Thanks
Pierre, whilst I have no doubt this has only happened since 16.2.1 on your PC (and your older v14 & v15 are not affected), there are no known issues with this release to my knowledge, if there were then this board would be flooded with complaints.
I keep most older versions and could provide v16.1.1 or v16.0.3 but I would not recommend either because both were updated to fix issues, and of course if you have opened a project in v16.2.1 it will no longer open in earlier releases.
I have marked this post for attention by Incomedia in case wiser minds than ours have any further suggestions.

Esahc,
Yes I also try to open V10 Evolution V14 PRO and V15 PRO and they ALL open very quickly no issue.
Only V 16.2.1 is giving this hard time.
Yes your right project were opened with v16.2.1 so I did not know cannot go back only one version back such 16.1.1 and it would not opened v16.2.1 thanks for letting me know this one.
Once again thanks again Esahc for you support and time. it is kind of very long to wait 5 min. everytime I need to open X5 I could also tell you since V16.2.1 LOTS of more crashing issue and need to restore backup on my main project which I use since Website X5 Evolution 10 with no issues before but now going to hard time. (which another issue from v16.2.1)
Will then wait for incomedia to hopefully get back to me with a solution.
Best Regards
Pierre, whilst you sit and wait in the hope of a solution, please take advantage of step5Export, export project (in v16 these can each be uniquely named), these are reliable, the backup is NOT. If your project is unstable, please make sure there are no empty cells - these make projects unstable especially in v16. Place an object (eg text) in every cell or row of cells, there is no need to add content.
Good luck! I shall now try and sit back and watch without further comment :-)
Hi Pierre.
This definitely look like an issue with elements that require an internet connection to be checked and started properly.
Before investigating further into this, try the following. Please do backup all of your projects before, just in case, as IWZIPs, even though the procedure should leave them untouched
Uninstall the software and navigate to :
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional
Then, delete the folder too.
After doing that, reinstall the software and try again.
Let me know if it worked for you
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
I just try your step too and sorry NO good still takes 5 min. to load and yes I lost my projects it's empty now I will need to restore from IWZIP's.
Not sure if you look at all exchange with Esahc but i'm posting a picture to make sure you understand it is not slow to open the projects it is to Open Website X5 PRO V16.2.1 prior to this update it was opening very quikly as I have a very fast computer with SSD's also.
All other application on my computer runs fast and open very quickly.
I try to open Website X5 V10 Evolution clicking the ICON and it's ready in less than 3 sec. while clicking Website X5 Pro V16.2.1 prior to be able to open a project it's not under 5 minutes. (the green bar and uploadling libraries see attached)
Thanks
Hi Pierre.
This is indeed very weird, the part about the projects I mean. If you deleted the right folder, your projects should all still be there, since they're not stored in the folder I mentioned. Are you sure you deleted the folders are the right path? Could you please attach a screenshot of that folder here for me to check?
It might be that some of the files that deal with that part of loading specifically are still there
If you launch the software and go to "Preferences" in the first screen, where does the software say that the projects are located?
Keep me posted
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
No for thew projdct folder location... I realize by uninstall & re install was back to default which I changed back to
\My Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional
While mine was stored in different location as prior to version 15 or 16 I believe it was creating a seperate folder for each each version such as see attach....
I try many other thing an yes very weird will always take about 5 minutes to open Website X5 16.2.1
while version 10 - 14 still open in less than 5 sec.
This is starting to drive me a bit crazy...
Thanks
the problem is exactly you !! the latest version is the most stable! I do not have problems with starting and editing .... after a year I bought it ....
Pierre, I see there has been little progress. Have you tried running WX5 after stopping ALL programs in startup??
https://www.groovypost.com/howto/disable-startup-programs-windows-10/
(when I do this I take a screen shot and save it so I know which programs to enable when testing is done)
You might also wish to try starting Windows in safe mode (although I am not actually sure if WX5 will start in safe mode)
Author
Esahc,
Sorry to say not much progress and so far not too much support from Incomedia :(
I just try stopping all programs in startup reboot and nothing any better always near to 5 min. to start X5
Once again thanks for trying to help... I re run again on my SSD chkdsk /f and nothing better....
I'm doing something right now and later tonight I will try Safe mode.
Regards
Just for the record (& to save me reading every post thoroughly), you DID try starting WX5 v16 after totally disabling all internet access (remove lan cable/disconnect from wifi)?
Author
Esahc
Yes I did you had asked me this in previous conversation and did not change anything.
I really don't know what to try... and it look like Incomedia as stopped helping me after a few exchange !?
Once again thanks for tying to help me
Pierre, I don't think Incomedia know what to suggest sadly. The only suggestion I have left is to stop checking for updates on program load (although it does nothing on mine and I suspect it has nothing to do with the libraries loading/updating.
I know it won't make you feel any better, but some months ago I purchased WebAnimator plus 3. On my PC it crashes at random and I have never been able to complete any animation :-(
I know it is some minor conflict in my windows10 (which works perfectly with ALL other software and versions) or a small program or updated dll from an old installed and probably uninstalled utility which I have long since forgotten. One day I will replace my HD (I have already bought the replacement) and begin the task of reinstalling all my programs. It is not a pleasant task and I do not want to do it (which is why I have not recommended you wipe and reinstall your windows), but some cold winters day I am going to bite the bullet.
I am certain my Webanimator will then run.
(I will not destroy or wipe my "old" drive C: because I can always pop it back in to complete an urgent task if one should come up whilst rebuilding my world).
Good luck - I shall try to be quiet from now on.

Esahc,
:( I had also try to uncheck the update a week ago and no changes...
Yes you are right LAST thing I want to do is re install Windows 10 and ALL software... I feel your pain to delay this as well as myself I would not do so as my new Samsung SSD 860 1TB is fairly new but as been ghost from previous HDD which I had no issue (Just need for speed) and once again everything else is working nice and quick on my computer even previsou version of Website X5... that another reason not feeling to re install from scratch all software :((
I just try CCleaner with the registry fixed and also no difference :(
So if you have another idea just drop a line and will try it out... but I feel with more than 325 visit on this post I might not be the only one with this issue !?
Once again good luck with you new installation in the winter (Really don't feel to do it myself and hope some magics happen in a future Update... we never know)
Will continue to try if Incomedia could dropped me some more help eventually...
Maybe I should re post on private my have somebody else looking at my issue.
Thanks again.
Recently, my Windows 10 computer was working very, very slowly. For example, it took about 100 seconds just to open Microsoft Word. After investigating all the usual suspects, such as a failing hard drive, potential spyware, possible viruses, etc., I decided to buy a new 500 GB solid state drive and reinstall Windows and ALL my software applications from scratch.
That turned out to be a great choice. It’s like having a brand new computer. Microsoft Word launches in 5 seconds, and all is well.
I would recommend that you do the same.
You’ve wasted enough time already!

Hi Myron,
I clearly understand what you are telling me this is a new Samsung SSD 1TB PRO and all other all other apps open in less than 2 sec. even Word in my case super fast SSD drive.
And all SSD test i've already been done.
Thanks
What is the brand name of the CPU in your computer?
Hi Pierre,
Unfortunately, this seems to be a very peculiar case which is occurring on your device specifically.
I believe we have no way of further analyzing where the issue could come from, but it seems to be something regarding your very Windows installation.
In order to still understand whether the whole internet connection or just this device is the problem, you could try installing the software on a different device under the same network, and see how it behaves.
If the problem is not there, and the original device is to blame, I'm afraid a reinstall would probably be the only way
Let me know what you think
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
Very weird... as once again prior to this latest update I never had any starting up issue, and all other version of Website X5 still open within 2 sec., no other application more than 70 software are acting on this new Samsung SSD drive.
Well as I wrote bit earlier will wait for next X5 PRO update and hope it correct my issue for now.
As i'm still able to work in Website X5 but takes 5 minutes to open (With internet or without internet as Esahc as ask me to try). I'm not ready to spend 1 week to re install from scratch Windows 10.
If I ever happen to run into other issues with other software I will have no choice to do so.
Thanks for your help and if I ever find a fix I will let you know.
