Full Calendar  en

I cant find any documentation on this control. If I create a ics format, it takes it, but doesnt display any information. So i would like to read some documentation on what fields this control needs and their format. I dont need a link to another 3rd party control, this control by Incomedia should work as any other calendar should, expecially equivelant to any free version available on the internet.

Please lead me to your control documentation. Searching is not pulling up anything. The helpcenter should have an area for the controls, so users can pinpoint what they are looking for and see documentation on the control to see if its even something that suits their needs.

I would also like to simply "replace" an ics/ical on the server that the Full Calendar reads from for a simple update of this control. Where DOES the full calendar store the document, or does it?

Hi Brian, the calendar object has been broken since late June and I have received no update that this has been fixed. Its pretty useless anyway in that it only displays the title and times with no float over or drill down functionality.

As an alternative you may want to check out Luxcal which is free and can be plug in to a web page using the http reference, while also comes with step by step documentation i.e. luxcal.com.

Regards!

Dave

Hello Brian

Dave is right ( apart from the link ) - the LuxCal is 10.000 better than the "full calendar".

Link here : http://www.luxsoft.eu/

And a useful link here : http://calendarforum.dk/

The "full calendar" is useless for most purposes.

The LuxCal is loaded with functionality : Booking, overlap check, recurring events, mail, sms, styling, upload of thumbnails, attachments to events ( images and PDF ), import and export of csv and ics files. Hovering an event will show the event and eventually an image. Displays that is perfect for mobile use. Matrix view of categories and users.  + many other features.

The LuxCal calendar is easy to use and easy to install. Installation of the L-version, can be done in few minutes. In under 5  minutes you are able to download, unpack, upload to your site and have it up-and-running. This is when you have done an installation before. Else you have to read the instructions, and then it will probably take you 15 minutes before you are ready to use the calendar.

The calendar has a good support, and if a bug ( there is very few ) is found, it is fixed in a short time.

It comes with a built-in database ( SQLite ) in the L-version, and the M-version uses a MySql database.

I recommend to download the L-version for testing. Then later you can use the M-version if wanted - it is the same calendar.

Kind regards

John S.

You can find something about integrating the calendar to X5 here : http://calendarforum.dk/integrating-iframe-x5.html

It goes for all versions of X5. The simplest is to use an iframe.

The "intagrating sidebar" needs an revision, as the calendar location has been moved.

Thanks for the responses. I know about this control and yes its a great alternative. I saw it on previous post when i was searching. However, i REALLY want some documentation on the Full Calendar from Incomedia. Their failure to respond to a paying customer question and addressing the issues I have seen is mind boggling. This control needs major help and if there is documentation that show otherwise, I appologize in advance. But sadly again, i dont see any documentation. I feel like most of Incomedia controls are just "lets get it out there" instead of packing it with competitve features that are widely available for free on the internet. This is the icing on the cake. Come on Incomedia developers this is so disappointing, expecially this one from 2016 - https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/150060

Hi Brian, as you would have gathered the Calender functionality is pretty basic and requires an ICO file to display the entries and even here it is not compliant to the RFC documentation and provides no other functionality. I found that even though multiple files should be supported that all calendar entries were required to be in the one file (another bug).

The process for creation is to create all your calendar entries in a calendar like Outlook or any other tool capable of saving an ICO file then save the selected date range into the file. Once the file is created you can use any text editor to change / update the file but the file must always be refreshed in the x5 editor and uploaded to the website.

I agree with your comment on Incomedia and some of their objects which I have commented on in this forum myself. There are several objects and with an expensive credit cost that do not live up to their hype or potential, then appear to be poorly tested for each release.

Regards!

Dave

Hello everyone.

At the moment, no real "Documentation" exists for this Object, since its functionality is pretty basic.

As pointed out, it requires calendar files such as the ones Google Calendar generates, and it proceeds to showing elements such as Events as located in the provided file.

Its functionality is indeed still pretty basic, but many Idea's topic were open regarding this, so that it might be improved in the future.

However, you have the chance to purchase the Object, test it out, and eventually get the credits refunded for it if it doesn't suit your needs, so feel free to test it out before keeping it.

I definitely agree that new features could be added, and in order to get them all considered properly, I suggest you open up an Idea topic, explaining exactly what you would like to see added.

Let me know if Ican provide further information on the matter

Thank you

Stefano

Thankds for the reply Incomedia. Can you address what it needs to funciton? Sample ICS file with its requirements? This is all i was after in my previous posts. BTW, i know the ics file gets uploaded with the files to the server. Can I not just overwrite that ICS file and the calendar control will pick it up for display? Its located inside the plugin folder.

Hi Brian, please find below a sample file:

Once uploaded you can attempt to edit the online version and theoritically the changes should be picked up on the refresh of the page - let us know how you go?

Regards!

Dave
