Duplicate images export  en

Author: Marius T.

Galleries export issue: When you edit a text or other minor thing on the page, images and image galleries are again exported under another name.

This results in having multiple versions of the same image on the server.
It's very unpleasant to delete all the images on the server and to upload again, and it's also a Google indexing problem because they always have a different name.

Can not be solved in the new version 16?

Hi Marius.

This is a very peculiar issue that I believe it's not been reported yet.

Are you sure this happens after you apply whatever minor edit to any page? Can you provide an "always working" step by step procedure to reproduce this?

Also, there was an issue with duplicated images that should have been solved, meaning that material should not be duplicated yet. If it was there before though, it has not been removed.

To do so, please try running your project into the free Optimizer, and import the project back in.

Let me know if it helped you out

Thank you

Stefano

Hi Marius.

I'm not sure I understand your latest inquiry.

Have you been able to test out the optimizer as reported?

It would be really helpful to get a feedback on that if your situation improved even by just a little

Please keep me posted on this

Thank you

Stefano

Stefano, to be honest this webpage helpsme living and I do not trust the optimizer, I cannot afford to ruin the whole page. I will quit the blog as I have quited the mail form and ... that's it. I will delete manually the duplicates from time to time ...

Hi Stefano,

This has been reported in the past and has yet to be fixed. I reported the issue under the title Old Images 23/03/18 another ongoing issue yet to be fixed. I myself reported this issue (which I still have problems with) You did give a workaround for the issue but it is still happening.

The Pro 12 version was amazing and they should fix only some small problems. Instead of this the new versions are full of problems ...  I have stopped the subscription because I am buying only problems.

Marius, did you ever try optimizer?

It will not (can not) overwrite your existing project. It will create a new project so you can verify that all is well.

Hi Marius.

As reported by Esahc, the Optimizer will NOT overwrite your project, but create an updated copy of it. Since in the newest version some older bugs with Image generations were fixed, it is possible that these were carried along with the project from v12, and would require a run into the Optimizer to be successfully removed.

Also, some material might be still present in older backups of your project. This sometimes makes it so that it is still considered part of it, and might be carried around inside the project. Deleting the backups can solve this, but please do perform an IWZIP backup before, so that you're sure not to lose your work.

Please test this and let me know the result. (You can always upload different version of your website in subfolders to test them out without removing the actual site)

Thank you

Stefano
