Access management passwords keep changing even after saving project  en

Is there any way I can simply copy and paste the Access management Folder, let's say.. "Group 1" folder, from one project to another?  (I change my usual club website to a 'Christmas version' each year at this time and revert back to the original in the new year)  The pages are very different but the users are the same, so access management doesn't change.

I have had to enter users and passwords manually for my club members in the Access Management panel in V17 Prof because the conversion from V16 wiped them out.  I regularly save the project whilst doing this.  I also upload the changes often.

Yet every time I go back to enter new user passwords, all the ones I previously entered have changed.

What on earth is going on?  I have been going round in circles with this!  If thay have been saved how can they change?  Virus and malware checks have shown nothing to date.

In order to prevent any errors between folders, I deleted the 'httpdocs' folder files from the server before uploading the exchange site to a fresh httpdocs folder.  I have found this always works best.

Apart from the 'About Us & GDPR page', all other pages are locked and are not open to the public to register.

I experienced a crash at one stage whilst entering user details but a 'temporary file' had been created and I sent a report of the problem via the auto report window that opened on crashing.

Surely there must be a way we can copy and paste without having to keep changing projects.

Is it not possible that we can open projects simultaneously to enable a 'drag and drop' scenario.

I am running Windows 8 and experienced a 'security boot locked' scenario after microsoft kindly 'updated' my system and I found it had kindly wiped out the MBR completely.  I managed to get it all restored so I don't know whether this may have affected programs. I wouldn't have thought it would cause this issue.

Because of GDPR, I can't give access to you so will have to work through any advice you can give.

Kind regards,

Andy

Hi Andy.

I must confirm that at the moment, it is not possible to copy/paste users from a project to another.

This is something that has been requested as an Idea multiple times already and the developers are still discussing the matter with care.

I believe passwords changing has never been reported before, so it appears to be a strange issue you're currently having.

I tested this on several project, by opening many manual users and changing their password, then closing the project and restarting it, but they're always the same.

Does this happen on every project or on one only? Does this happen simply every time? Or did this happen once?

Keep me posted on this

Thank you

Stefano

Hi Stefano,

If happened every time on one project.  I checked for viruses etc on my side and server side.. nil result.

Also I should mention that the pages also became corrupted even though I had 'cleaned' the server in preperation for the upload.

I think there is possibly a clash from V16 to V17. Somewhere in the upgrade things went awry.

In the end I wiped all data from the server, reconstructed the site and have resorted to a simple access solution as the site is only going to be up over the Christmas period.  All working OK at the moment.

I will come back to you when the usual site is uploaded and new passwords established.  This won't be until the second week in January.  (Unless something goes wrong in the meantime!)

Cheers.

Andy
