Can't import an existing project  en

I try to import a saved project (saved in Website 5 Evolution 12) in the latest version Evolution 17. When doing that I get an error message (translated from Dutch) "An error occured during removing of the project (a local file header is damaged)". I already installed Evolution 17 again, but that did not help. So I can't continue at ll, what to do?

Thanks for all suggestions!

Henk

Henk, when you say you cannot import a saved project, in v12 did you first go to step 5 export and select export project to create an iwzip file?

If you did so, if you open v12 and select import and then import the iwzip file, does it import correctly (this will NOT overwrite your existing project in v12)

(v17 cannot open a v12 project, but it can import an iwzip created by v12)

Last week I exported in V12 the website as an an iwzip file. Just an hour ago I reinstalled V12 again and imported that file. That went okay without any error message

Henk, please try again importing the iwzip into v17, if this fails please advise and maybe I or someone else can also try for you (if your iwzip is less than 2gb you can use wetransfer.com to provide a link). I and many others have all the interim versions in case the issue is the major jump from v12 - v17 (although it would surprise me if this was the case).

(You are carrying out this task all locally I assume ie not from network, cloud or usb drive?)

Hi Esahc,

I retried, and again the same failure. I work locally, so no cloud or usb et. The whole file is 9,5Gb... Besides this website with many pages, i have a sleepy website, just one page, linked to the other website. This (small)iwzipp file I could import without a problem

Henk,  you have my sympathies. Was the iwzip created without backups and preview??

If all else fails, could you use FileZilla or similar and upload the iwzip to your public_html directory of your existing website?

If you then provided the iwzip file name I / we could download it and play.

Normally I export with both options (back up and preview) included. I now did without that, it results in bit smaller file 7,8Gb. But when I import it in V17, still the same error message.

To be honest I am not sure, were in my website I have to upload it. And I dont want to damage the website now, cause its a kind of back up. (and maybe limited space). Is it also possibel to send by TransferXL to?

Crank up FileZilla and simply upload the iwzip to the same place you upload your website ( you will see index.html in there)

It will not affect you site (and makes a perfect backup).

Then advise the domain name and iwzip file name

Esahc,

I just checked my website and I have only 1Gb space left, so that's not enough.

The main reason that I updated to version V17 was, that the hosting company start to, not support older PHP versions. They offer a paid service to overcome this, if I do nothing. Online I can set the PHP version to 7.2, but I am not sure if V12 can handle that. V17 supports till PHP 7.2. So probably better to work with the latest versin V17....

Best,

Henk

Hi Henk,

please follow these steps in order to import your project:

-Once you have the .iwzip file, rename it as .zip (if you do not see the filename extensions you have to enable them from the Windows control panel).

-Then extract the contents of the file into a folder, you can use a default program like 7zip or select "extract" from the Windows menu.

-Select the contents you have extracted in the folder and recreate the .zip storage (to do this you can use either the Windows default compressor or 7zip).

-Then rename the file you have just created from .zip to .iwzip, so to import it into version 17 by clicking on the specific button "import" and by selecting the file.

Please let me know if I can be of further help. Kind regards.
