I created a template with header, footer and sidebar. I positionned my sidebar on the left. However there is a space of about 180 pixel on the left before the sidebar, and nothing is in here. I can't move the sidebar to be completely on the left.
In the template section, I can't move the sidebar to the left. There is still this empty space on the left
if you want to see the website is:

Hello francis
You must left-align the sidebar.
The clip is for this testsite : http://eksempelsite.dk/engdrx5/
Hope this was what you meant.
Just a tip :
When using left-head-menu, then this is suitable with sub-menu in the top.

Francis, I think the problem is simpler than John imagines.
(I do hope I am right John :-)
The "lost space" to the left of your sidebar is the difference between your browser width and your website design width. This is how WX5 is designed. You could alter this width in step 2, Resolutions and Responsive Designs but I do not recommend this.
I believe you have used the default resolution of 1150px for desktop, simply drag your browser narrower (I suspect it was roughly 1500px when you took the screenshot).
If you want the menu only ever to be hard left (or right) you could use/force the toaster menu and dispense with the sidebar.
I think you are right Esahc - I simply assumed it was full-width.
Maybe this post is about the same : https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/188978
Some of the examples in the post has been changed - before it looked like this : http://www.bramminginfo.dk/brm02/et-museum-formes.html
But - the solution to the post-problem was with using no code.
I think the trick for you will be : set the page background to : left
