So many times I go to check the work I have done - and then I get the inevitable "Not Responding" I wait, wait and wait. Then the whole thinig frosts over and I have the option to wait or close the program. I wait some more and end up having to go to task manager and close the program and start again. It is so infuriating and I am sick of Incomedia. On top of that - an update today came up with the message "Cannot update the software because it is not licenced - which is a bit galling when I have paid for the wretched thing.

my 16,17,2019.1 work properly...(withut crash). maybe its not programm errors. its possible? why you have only one variant - software?
Adam, before we resort to uninstalling the program and removing the related folder in appdata\local, and before we ask you to disable 3rd party anti-vius/malware/firewall etc. . .
Could you please look at your project and if there are any empty cells (on ANY pages) either remove them or place an object in each (text, html, etc), there is no need to add content. Then do a ctrl+preview. Is the project now more stable?
To update WX5 go to your profile (top right this page), select download and download the latest version then install.

I wa told to ininstall the program by Incomedia because I was unable to do any updates. So I had to. I have done so and the issue is still the same.
Adam, can I assume you have checked your project pages for empty cells and removed them?
If so can you please disable (or temporarily uninstall) any 3rd party firewall/malware/antivirus packages and see if that returns stability?
If this does not work I suggest uninstalling WX5 and then deleting C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Evolution
Once you have done this go to your profile (top right this page) and download the latest version and re-install.
Please let us know if any of the above steps fixes the problem.

It did solve the problem actually - then created a new one - I am so sick of X5. Now I get the message 'an error occured' so I can't load the proect at all. I have followed your help section on this forum and nothing works. So I have lost about 50 hours of work - Thanks
Adam, if you turned on auto backup on upload to web (down arrow next to save), or you created a backup at any time (same place) then you can open WX5, select the project, click backup, select a suitable candidate and select redo.
Even better, if you visited step 5 export, export project you will have an even more robust backup available. Simply open WX5, select import, locate the iwzip file and your project will be restored.
Could you advise how you solved the problem before the crash?

I had been saving the work all through the project. When I normally launch the site I make a "robust" back up at that time. I thought that was enough. Then yesterday I was working on the site when the program once again crashed. I opened it up and got the message that the project couldn't be loaded. I tried to use the back up feature and it failed. This morning I opened the program up and it has disappeared.I am raging.
So the iwzip file you created has disappeared?
Author
Exactly - It showed up on the start page f the program - I couldn't open it. So I tried to import it and the iwzip file wasn't there any more.
You hopefully make a backup from your project files regularly?
You can also loose the files because of hardware problems
Adam, the iwzip is never visible on start. You have to click on Import and browse to where it is stored. So can I assume you have not created an iwzip file through step5 export, export project?
