Hi,

I have receently purchase a new pc and downloaded Website X5 Professional onto it. I have three websites built. The first two transferred perfectly, but the third one is goivving me the following error:

"An error ocurred while loading the project. (The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified name must be less than 260 characters, and teh directory name must be less than 248 characters)"

My file name is "Mould Bases" which is not long at all. I have the exported folder on the same hard drive as the other two. I have also tried by placing it directy onto my pc.

I attach my error message . My exported file is 187mb.

I have EVO 13, but the websites were originally created in pro10. I tried to import using teh EVO, but could not open teh first one I tried. I then downloaded the pro10, but am still getting this message for the mould bases website.

Please help??

Many thanks.

Hello Linda,

It is unfortunately not possible to upgrade a site built with Professional v10 if you only hold a licence for the Evolution edition of a higher version.  This is because there is no support in the Evolution edition for the many enhanced features and Objects of the Professional edition.

As an existing WebSite X5 user you may be entitled to a special offer on an upgrade.  Check here:

WebSite X5 Offers

Failing that I am afraid the only options would be to either start again in Evolution 13, or continue working with Professional 10.

Kind regards,

Paul

Linda, with the one troublesome v10 project, can you open it on the old PC?

If so, can you go to step 5 export and select export project (untick the options).

This will create an iwzip file. Copy it to the new PC and when you open v10 on the new PC select import (to the right of the local projects).

This is the safest and most reliable way to transfer projects between PC's. The iwzip file is also the ONLY safe backup.

If the old PC is still operable and WX5 runs but you cannot open the Mould Bases project, please advise and we will look to see if there are any alternative recovery options.
