i upgraded to web evolution 9 .. they say it has over 1200 templates and i was really dissapointed when i saw the new ( less than 100 templates ) the new templates in version 9 looks very insignificant comparing to the version 8 ..

q1 : why they say it has over 1200 templates while there are less than 100 templates ?

q2 : is there anyway i can move/add the templates in version 8 to version 9 ?

am so sorry to say that the version 9 is soke kind of a dissapointment

q1) Look closer: there are exactly 188 different template models. For each model, you can get 4 different styles ( this means that most of the models offered with 4 completely different sets of graphic components: banner, footer, etc.).  And each of these models can be used in 2 different menu presentations: horizontal or vertical menus.

So 188 X 4 X 2 = 1504 templates.

Plus, you have the possibility of building your own custom template, if you wish.

q2) Yes, you can use the custom template feature and use the graphic components of  the V8 templates, if you want to.

I can only recommand to take some time to learn how v9 works, read the manual, and feel free to ask if you need help. I'm quite sure you'll change your mind about the product.

-> 188 independent graphic arts models are in the program WebSiteX5 Evolution 9.

-> These can be used in 4 different color variations vertical

-> and in 4 different color variations horizontally

-> 188 x 8 = 1504 Templates.

lol, pcssa... we were calculating almost at the same  time  !

It's not only a color variation. Most of the models come in 4 different style: different headers, footers, background, etc...

My answer to your question #1 is not a simple mathematical calculation:

I went through every one of the 188 models listed in V9 categories.

True, I noted that for 24 of those models, one could say that they are basicallly built on the same model, with 4 color variations of the headers and/or background and/or footer. It's one design, with color variations.

For 2 of the models, 2 out of the 4 offered styles are the same design with color variations ( Leaves and Stripes, Interior Designs).

But for the 163 other templates models, the design of the 4 styles offered are in fact very different and the graphic components are not the same. So it's easy to state that Incomedia offers 652 completely different templates. If you consider that those templates can be used with a vertical or horizontal menu, that gives us 1304 totaly different templates to choose from (even if some say that hor and ver templates are the same, and I dont agree with that).

Here's a screen capture showing this. Look at the bottom, Styles...

templates

Now, for the 25 other models (the 24 above  + the two that 2 out of 4 are similar), it's true that from Incomedia's  point of view, even if they offer only color variations, they had to build them from scratch and design headers, backgrounds and other graphic elements. From the user's point of view, one could say that they are not different enough to consider them as different templates, and I would agree with that.

The templates that are color variations of the same model are:

White Lines (Abstarct)
Bee (Animals)
Colorful Shop (Artistic)
Vibrating lines (Artistics)
Hidden Flowers (Flowers)
Poison Ivy (Flowers)
Sun Flower (Flowers)
The Lady and the Flower (Flower)
E-Domus (2 out of the 4, Leisure)
Drawing rooms (Interior designs)
Leaves and Stripes  (2 out of 4, Interior Design)
Nature elements (Nature)
Piece of sunset (Nature)
World in Motion (School and eductaion)
Colored Bands (Lines and colors)
Elegant styles (Lines and colors)
Prompt (Lines and colors)
Coraline Barrier (Sports)
Sky (Sports)
Chips & Transistors (Technology)
Video Stars (Technology)
Exterior Designs (Travel)
House with red Plans (Travel)
Traffic Light (Travel)
Black Style (Miscellaneous)
Silk Sensation (Miscellaneous)

All this leaves us with 1304 completely different templates, and 200 color variations of 25 different models.

Additionnal templates packs are also available, if one want to buy them. Free additionnal templates are also available from third parties producer and I think that Incomedia will introduce some of their own in a near future.

And if you keep in mind that one can build is own custom template, possibilities are endless.

And I didn't even mention that one can easily change the color tone of the chosen style, thus adding endless possibilities...

To use V8 templates in V9, you use the custom template function and you use V8 graphics components for the header, footer, page content and so on...

Bernard

Hi guys!

First of all, I'd like to thank BmT 3000 for the explanation you have given us, it's perfect! Thank you so much!

Lithium, hi! I'll try to explain how you can build your template by using the same one you had in Evo 8 as clearly as possible:

  • look into your project file (.iwp)
  • you will find a folder called ''res''
  • in this folder you will find all the different images that have been used to create the template you have chosen:
    • ''bg'' - your background
    • ''bottom''
    • ''content''
    • ''top''
    • ''menu'' (if you have used the Hor version)

Once you have found these, all you have to do is add them into Evo 9 by selecting the ''custom template'' option.
You will have to add each image and set it's size where it asks you to do so.
Please let me know if you need futher details!
