Evo 2019.2 says "Too Many Pages" 
Author: Trystan R.After a number of issues with Evolution 10, I upgraded to 2019.2 in June. After a huge number of issues! I have had to begin rebuilding an entire school website of almost 700 pages in 2019.2. But this evening, as I went to add another new page I got a message saying "Be careful! Your Projecy has too many pages in it!" (screenshot attached) Surely that is nonsense! Is the software not able to build a proper website with an unlimited number of pages? And would anyone know how to "connect" these different projects please?
I am finding these last few weeks that Incomedia might not be as good as software as I thought it was! Evolution 10 only started giving problems in the last 6 months - having to rebuild an entire website in 2019.2 is a mammoth task as it is, without now getting messages that the site has too many pages.
Any and all help / advice would be greatly appreciated!

The recommended maximum number of pages for a WebSite X5 project created with either the Evo or Pro edition is 10,000 pages. So you are comfortably within that limit.
The newer versions of WebSite X5 incorporate quite a few different warning messages like this one, intended to be useful and helpful, and to optimise the web design experience for the user: in this case the point being that a project with a large number of pages can become difficult to manage. However, the message is merely advisory and you can dismiss it by ticking the checkbox marked 'Don't show this message again'.

Thank you so much for your reply. I've been at this for over 2 weeks now, many hours a day copying, pasting, making sure that the page titles match the "old" site as between Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, we need the same links for the pages! We're at 697 pages as of the end of the last school year, and we seem to be adding maybe 80-100 a year. So we have plenty of space yet then before we hit 10,000! I was just very concerned that after all the work we've put into it, that it would top out at a lesser limit than Evolution 10 - and I don't know where we'd go from there. Do you know how you would connect different projects to each other?

However, rest assured that if you are happy with keeping all of your pages within one project then you do not need to split your project up at all... you certainly have a lot of headroom left before you get anywhere near the maximum page limit.

I suggest you split the entire project. According to the constant content and the seasonal content.
for example
School part for visitors
For schoolchildren, doldozs (closed content)
New Enrollers
They can be placed in separate subdomains or apple poppies. This makes it more manageable and the project size smaller.
Just a comment : I guess you are aware that the "backup" in X5 is not a real backup. And I also guess that you make a iwzip file for every 50 or 100 pages. If not then consider doing this.
If you keep the pages in one project then the built-in search function will search all pages.
If you split your project you cannot use the built-in search, but has to do something special.
I would like that the search could also search in subfolders ( other projects ). If it is able to do this today, then I would like to know.

I'm interested in learning more about splitting the project and being able to link to the copy. We have material from 2002 to 2019, which will not be added to and are in fact in an "archive" section of our website. So I would like to learn how to build all that as an archive, and link to it from what we could call the "main" project. Paul, I read Claudio's post but I don't get how to link to the pages in the copy. Sorry if I seem a little stupid on this! But given that we don't add to the older archived pages, it would make sense to have them in a separate project.
Again, would very much appreciate knowing how to do this, if you can help! Thanks in advance

Websites should be simple and clean.
So the website is divided thematically into three sections. Then the topic search will be better as well. There is little need for irrelevant content. After all, the user's choice is where to look.
So for 700 pages you need a large menu, submenu, subpage. This is not transparent and will quickly be lost to the user. See newer website solutions!
Where the main menus are 3-4 pieces and they lead to sub pages where the main menus are 3-4 pieces and there are sub pages. Mobile display is much easier with fewer pages.
First, duplicate your existing project using the instructions here (How to make a copy of your project):

Decide which pages you wish to retain in the main/existing project, and those which you wish to move to the new/sub/duplicated project. Delete from the main project those pages which are to be hived off to the sub project, and vice-versa. You will now have two projects, but with the same total number of pages as before.
Create a new folder within the root directory of your existing WebSite X5 project on the server, and name it to reflect the purpose of the sub project, as suits your preference.
Set the WebSite Address (URL) in Step 5 > Export > Upload the Website to Internet of the new sub project, to point to the following URL:
http(s)://www.ststephensbns.com/your_new_folder_name_goes _here!
You may elect to forego any menu system in the sub project, as the pages will all be accessible from the main project as follows:
For each page in the sub project, you need to create a corresponding 'level' in the Sitemap of the main project, as per this screenshot:
For each level, click on the 'Properties' icon which you can see in the top-right hand corner of that same screenshot, and set the 'Link to be executed on item click' to point to the absolute URL of the corresponding page which has been uploaded to the new folder on the server from the sub project (ref: https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?mappa_livello.htm&utm_source=software&utm_medium=Pro_2019.2)
That's the basic premise of how it works...

It is important that you decide to split the website. Then the web design is transformed to be mobile friendly. The pages also need to be redesigned. Fortunately, websitex5 is a great help in creating pages.
According to M. Paul, you can easily make changes to this page. That way you want to give us your share of the main project and you want to manage them in the archive. You need to use this solution if you want to change your web design.
Alternatively, the design does not change. Only when does division make sense? If the mobile view fits into a small fold.
It is also recommended that you use the https protocol if you want to start designing and updating your site.

I agree with the splitting. Only problem is, that if you have an informational site and split it up in 3, then there will be a problem if a user make a search. He will only find 1/3 of what should be expected.
In this case it will be relevant to make the archive in a separate sub-project. Most people expect that a search in a site only is for the actual part, and that a search in an archive only is for the archive.
