good afternoon,

step by step i get further in my website using the DreSshop template, however when I want to  add a subcategory in the menu the item is displayed in the menu-bar on the right instead of at the bottom.

What am I doing wrong? already spent 4 hours to find the solution but with no result.

Best regards Frans

Hello F.J.M.,

If I understand you correctly then you wish to create a drop-down menu in your project.

The key to doing this is to use 'levels' in the sitemap, and to position your subcategories underneath each level as appropriate.  For example:

You can read more about this in the help file:

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?mappa_livello.htm

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?mappa_ht.htm

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?proprieta_mappa_ht.htm

If you're still confused by this or have further questions then please let us know.

Kind regards,

Paul

Make sure the container for your menu is deep enough...  you can drag the handles around the container to enlarge it if necessary:

Then double-click on the menu icon which will open the menu properties.  Make sure that you have the Level Menu set to open at the Bottom, as shown in the screenshot below:

Could you post a screenshot of your sitemap as shown in Step 3 Sitemap Creation, please?

Also, could you advise if your website is online, and if so what is the URL?

If you wish you may send me your project directly using the secure contact form on my support website:

https://webx5.pro/contact.html

Many thanks!

Hello Paul

here the screenshot of the sitemap.

I am still developing my website, the old one is still online so I cannot send you new URL sorry for that.

As shown in the earlier posts the folder dresses is shown at the right side in the menubar instead of under, i tried many things but no result.

best regards Frans

Do you want a page called 'Dresses' to be a subcategory of a level called 'Collecties'?

If so then you arrange your sitemap as follows:

Which would give you the following result in Preview:

If this is not quite what you are looking for then could you please explain in detail how you wish to organise the parent categories and child pages, and I will show you how to arrange your sitemap to suit.

hello Paul,

I would like to be the page Collecties like in the attachment to be the parent with the pictures and the links in this page to child pages: Dresses, tops, trousers, blouses which should appear in the top menu under Collecties.

In the way I do it like you suggested when i click the link Collecties nothing happens until i click dresses and so.

The meaning is that the parent page with the pictures and links is directly activated.

Sorry for the inconveniance.

Frans

It's no inconvenience, Frans...  it's no trouble at all.

I think I understand better now.

Try following these further steps:

  • Create a new page called Collecties (keep the existing level which is also called Collecties)
  • Make the new Collecties page a hidden page using the Hidden page in the Menu button on the edit toolbar
  • Highlight the Collecties level in the sitemap by clicking on it once (it should turn blue), then click on the Properties button in the edit toolbar
  • Set the Link to be executed on item click to point to Action > Website Page > Collecties

Your new sitemap will look like this:

Please let me know if we're getting any closer!  smile
