Hello Tad

You can have one menu in the header and another menu in the sidebar.

The menus can have different levels - BUT - if you want to have the side-bar-menu or the top-head-menu change when the level changes, then this is not possible. You then need to put the menu on each page.

You can fix the "level" menu by using special code.

Example :

Here http://bramminginfo.dk/udvikling.html I have the head-menu in top, and under that a menu tgat is put on each page.

Here http://bramminginfo.dk/brammingbogen.html I have the head-menu in top and different menus on each page. Same menu for each section. the left menu is fixed, so it is easy to choose another page even if scrolling.

Here http://bramminginfo.dk/bygninger.html I have the head- menu in top, and the level-menu in bottom(fixed ).

This way it it should be easier for the user to navigate.

I have moved the breadcrumbs to the top left. If it should be used only for desktops, then the breadcrumb could be fixed, but then it is not suitable on mobiles.

I have earlier made an idea post where I suggest a possibility to make the menu level-dependant. Then it would be easier to have a left-menu in the sidebar ( as in earlier versions ).

I have just recently started on the site, so not so many menu items are finished.

But you should be able to see what I mean.

Hello Tad,

To set a different level for each menu go to Step 2 Template > Template Settings > Template Content...  click on the menu you wish to work with in Header, Footer or Side Bar to open its properties...  then set the level by clicking on the icon shown in the screenshot below:

Kind regards,

Paul

Sorry - my answer assumed that you knew about how to set the levels. This gives you the possibility to ( as I wrote ) to have one menu level in the top-menu and another menu-level in the side-bar-menu. But you can still not have them to change, so on all pages it will be the same 2 menus unless you have menus on the pages.

Still can't seem to do it. Maybe I can simplify what Im trying to do. If I create 10 pages for my site. Can I have (5) of those pages attached to my header (which shows up on all pages in website) and heve the other (5) pages conected to a menu only on the front page side bar? When you land on this page it will show topic and header but no side bar.

Hello Tad

On the site I linked to, the menu structure ( some of it )  is like this

The page "Udvikling" is under the level "Historie". On the page "Udvikling" I have a menu in the top showing all menus on the same level.

The page "Fra banr til by" is made the same way.

Under the level "Historie" I have a new level "Pionertiden"  where I have the page "Brammingbogen" and then I have the different sections in a new level. Under these levels I have pages.

One of the pages is "Starten" where I have a left menu that I have moved to the left and fixed on the page.

In short : A menu item can either be a page or a level.

If you only jave 5 pages on your sitem then you could have a menu with one level where each page will be an item in the menu.

If one of the pages is a kind of category with sub-categories, then you can make the category a level instead of a page and then under that level you can have a page for each subcategory.

I suggest you to make a project you use only for test. You could put the project in a subfolder to your site.

Then experiment until you are familiar with the menu-system, and then you can delete your subfolder with the test, and start on the "real" project.

You could try with a sidebar and without a sidebar. If your project is made with a sidebar then the sidebar will be on all pages.

A hint : If you have a project where you no longer want the sidebar, and then specifies the template structure with no sidebar, then before that, remove all content from the sidebar, as it can have unwanted results if the content is still defined.
