Hello All,

Using the latest version of X5 Evo - the search box on my site www.ex-l-ence.com seems very slow - any ways to improve it or should I look at a replacement (and if so, what)?

Thanks,

Robert.

Hello Robert,

At the time of writing your entire site is loading very slowly for me.  It took upwards of 30 seconds just to load the home page.

As the WebSite X5 built-in search uses PHP (and PHP runs on the server) I suspect these two issues are linked.

It might be worth your while upgrading to faster hosting.

But other than that, all you can do in the meantime is ensure you are running PHP7.x as opposed to PHP 5.x (as it is MUCH faster).

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks.

Odd about loading speed - seems OK (on various, non-cached browsers, here???

However, I'll transition it to my new (and faster) hosting provider as soon as I can and then will see if that fixes it.

All the best,

Robert.

Hmmmm

Just ran an external speed test - see attached image - no issues - maybe just a 'glitch'????

Possibly...  if you are on shared hosting then there are many factors which could influence page load time, which could change at various times throughout the day and depending on how many others are using the server resources simultaneously.

Immediately after I visited your site last night I checked a few other sites (without cache) to compare loading times at my end, and everything seemed normal.  It's possible that one or two others were reading this thread, loading your homepage and/or using the search engine feature to test it...  this could of course have caused the site to perform more slowly.

It seems better this morning smile
