New server suspicious of .php and JavaScript files  en

I was in the process of relocating my website to a different server and they sent me the following  in an E-Mail:

“When he downloaded your site, he expressed some serious concerns to me about what is contained in your Page County files.  As you probably saw if you visited USGenWebSites.org and our sites listing page, I have all of some states hosted on my server, and tons of other counties and projects on this server that I created when RW went down in December 2017  USGWS went online in January 2018, and I have lost count of how many sites we are currently hosting there.

Jeff has mentioned to me that your site has quite a few .php files and JavaScript files.  He tells me that those types of files are very susceptible to hackers and viruses.  Several years ago, the national pages were housed on someone's server that had extensive virus problems and 95% of that problem was these types of files.  Needless to say, this set off alarm bells for Jeff and serious concern for placing those on our server.

Is it possible for you to revamp your site to eliminate those types of files?  It would eliminate much of our concern and enable us to allow your site to be placed on USGWS server.  I'm sure you can understand that I would hate for anything you have on your site to jeopardize this entire hosting. “

I really don’t care to switch to another program and enjoy using X5.

What would be your response regarding this issue?

Tks, Ken

Hello.I sent a request to the company employees about your question. Please expect an answer from them here in the comments.

P.S. I believe that a large number of .php files and JavaScript files is a common situation. This situation is not unique to WebSite X5. The same can be said about WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart, Drupal...

Hello Kenneth

I apologize but the warning you received seems extremely generic.

PHP and JS files are a very common type of file on which most websites on the internet are built. The type of file doesn't represent a risk at all. I can freely assure you that whatever other website you would visit would make use of those. If not PHP, at least JS.

Hacking can occur according to the level of quality of the code that is inside of those files, not the files themselves.

The developers of WebSite X5 are working constantly to ensure that the code provided by the software is as secure as possible and should there be new risks as technology evolves, they will surely be addressed promptly

I hope I was helpful

Stefano
