I am building a web site, for mugs and t shirts and such and I want the visitor to be able to enter the text they want on the mug in governed parameters,
But it seems the only way I can do that is within the contact form and not on the page they are on
so can I pole a question within a page
For example, - whos name do you want on your mug ? empty field for the answer
what would you like to say ? Empty field (max 20 letters) another example
Is there anyway of doing this without using the contact form at the end PLEASE,

Hello Simon,
Satndard this is not a function within x5.
Maybe someone can help you with custom code, buut i think it will be difficult. The only you coulld do is manualy for every order contacting your customer by mail with the text request.
I have set this post as IDEA post, maybe Incomedia can make something like this in future releases, it's not a bad idea to have.

Its not a bad idea, this shold be a definite as I can no not make the website I want, unless the customer, includes thetext they want on the order page, I will ahve to add lines to the order (contact form) in shopping so that they can tell what text they would like on their product

There should be a way
Maybe someone else has an idea, i will it as ordinaire post for the moment.
But adding a text line to the order form is also a good option.
You can add a "personal field" in the order contact form, you can do it as shown in the photo below ...
The result is this...
You can customize the text that will be shown to the customer as you wish (I wrote "Scegli Variante" = Choose variant, you will write "Add the text here for the chosen product"). In that personal field the customer can write whatever he wants (you can also make the field mandatory). All that the customer will write in that field plus all his other data will reach you in the Order email sent from the Website X5 Cart.
