Hi girls & guys,

one question about the Font Awesome Icons:

Is it possible to insert a chosen icon from the Font Awesome Icons object into the text object?

In other words - do you recommend to buy this object at all?

Thx!

Hi Sinisa,

Yes, it's very possible.  The vast majority of the icons on https://webx5.pro have been inserted into Text Objects in that way.

You do need to manually locate each icon in the resource folder, however, but it is not much hardship.

Kind regards,

Paul

Ok - I bought the object...and find the resource folder... the next question is obvious:

How to edit those icons (i.e. change the size or icon-color)?

Every icon in the folder is a bitmap .png (22x22 pix).

Here is the path to my local folder containing the icons:

C:\Users\Home\AppData\Local\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional\PluginApps\12623706-13d2-42bf-82ce-37d6e23fcd6

I use them at native resolution, as I think they look best (sharpest) that way, but you can open them in any image editor such as Paint.

Just three examples I knocked up quickly.

Thank you - but I was asking how to edit the icon that I want to insert into the TEXT OBJECT...
I have to edit it via some graphical software...

@ Paul

The native resolution (and size) of the icons is too small.

When I import the 22x22 pix icon in the graphical software (I use Fireworks) - the icon is in the raster .png format.

When you resize raster - you got a blurry image (like your "black" HOME icon)

Obviously, I would proffer an editable (vector) format.

BUT - when I insert the icon via WSX5 Font Awesome Icons OBJECT - I can resize it WITHOUT any loss of quality!?

That's exactly what I want to do via my graphical program - so I can insert the icon in the TEXT object with the color&size that fits my design.

Paul, is this doable?

Sorry, man - I got (read) your post wrong!

Yes, that's the way - but when resizing it that way to i.e. 50x50 pix - the icon gets very blurry...

But it doesn't get blurry when I do it in the Font Awesome Icons OBJECT (on the preview the icon is "sharp")?

Hello Sinisa

This is probably because resizing the icon in the Object performs resizing operations based on code. When you perform a resize of the icon as an image in the Text Object, you're actually resizing an image.

This is the reason for the difference in this. I am afraid that you will need to obtain the image at a base resolution which is higher to start with in order to achieve this

I hope I was helpful

Stefano

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, the icons could be resized without the quality loss via code only.

I guess I'll have to pay to be able to download the same icons but in a larger format from Font Awesome Icons website?

Of course, I know where to find free icons - but those would not be the same like the ones from the Font Awesome Icons... That's a bummer!
