Author: Aleksandra P.

I have Polish version of x5 Evolution. I have just installed it into the new computer. However the system doesn't recognise Polish characters. I used to have same problem on old computer and it was solved by Micromedia help center but I don't remember how (2 years ago) and I have no access to our correspondency. Can you help me, how to have Polish characters back? I remember that I was asked to change something in the file Langs/Polish but honestly can't remember what!!!! Help please. thx

Hi Aleksandra,

I apologyze for making you wait! Please copy the file I have attached to this post in your Evo 8 folder. The path should look something like this C:\Program Files\WebSite X5 v8 - Evolution\Langs

Your file has probably been damaged, this one should fix things (you have to of course remove you're old one before hand).

Once this has been done, please export your project and let me know if the issue is solved, if it isn't, please give me your website's URL so that I may check.
Thank you!

Hi Samantha,

thank you. The file you sent me helped and resolved the issue with Polish characters.

However It cause another problem. In the blog, instead of some pharses like months the sigh '???' appears. Please go to:http://yoga-massage-tarot.co.uk/blog/index.phpto see what I mean.

I hope you can help me to solve this problem.

Thank you!

Aleks

You're welcome Aleksandra!

That can easily be solved: please open the file I have given you and feel free to edit what ever you need to then save it and open your program.

I don't understand what you want me to edit. If you look into the file you sent me you will see that it includes proper translations and doesn't include ??? signs. For example - on my website in blog area there is a search window. The file you sent me includes proper translation in polish which is 'szukaj' however the program doesn't recognize it and shows ??? instead. The weird thing with the file you sent me is fact that when I open it I can't see polish characters but somehow program sees it and my site is fine when it goes to polish characters.

Please advise once again how to remove ??? sings from my blog and to have proper words instead. Thank you.

X5 v.8?

you might need to change language for non-unicode programs.

Windows Xp:

Start / Control Panel / Regional and Language options / Advanced - Select Polish language and then click Ok. Restart.

Hi! I'm sorry for making you wait.
Here's what you can do:

  1. first of all, update your program, you are not using the last version of it (it should be 8.0.16;
  2. after, please open the PL_Polish.ini file and ''save as'' it with utf_8 extension;
  3. now move the file from the admin account to "C:\Programmi\WebSite X5 v8 Evolution\Langs\" and export the entire project online.

If you sill have errors like '??' please contact your provider and make sure he supports utf_8 charset.

Thank you for your time and patience!

are you sure i have to update a program. where and how?

the one I use is the one I bought from Polish shop online some time ago. It works well on other computer well it didn't at the beginning but you (help desk) helped me with the same problems I experience right now. I was told to do something else in the lang file but I don't remember what. If you can look into old tickets I created with your help desk and our old correspondency maybe this will help? If you can't please advise me how I can get the latest 8.0.16 version and which one I am using now?

Good morning!

I can see the version you are using by looking into your website codes (if you open your website then press CTRL +U on your keyboard) you will be able to see it yourself.
At the moment you are using the "Incomedia WebSite X5 Evolution 8.0.11'' version. You always have to remember to check for updates, in order to do this you can either click on the ''updates' icon you will find in the first program window or you simply go into the section called ''download'' in the top right corner of this page where you will always be able to find the latest version of your program.

Hi there, I got really pissed off with this problem cause your adivse as well as from the polish provider didn't help. btw. the provider from Poland suggested something totally in opposite. He said that version 8 doesnt support utf-8 code....

I have managed to get into the old polish file from old computer (same problem previously fixed by your colleagues from the help desk) and voila! Problem solved. Pity that I had to spend many hours on my own with it and you couldn't help me successfuly

:(

I'm very sorry Aleksandra.
Evolution 8 does support the utf-8 charset, you simply need to enable it. The file you had on your new computer probably got damaged therefore by taking your old file that was ok, you fixed it.
Did you update your program? Please do it even if it now works, it is very important for it's function.
Thank you!
