Content template section does not permit "Extend to browser width"  en

The sole option for using the width of a browser window for "content" is to place one object on a row. Then one can use the EXTEND button.

This makes no sense whatsoever. I do not understand why the template "Content" section does not have an "Extend to width of browser window" option as does the Header and Footer sections. Someone might have thought it good design to have null space borders left and right - but that is a personal opinion - and it certainly does not work for cellphones.

Here is a simple scenario - my smartphone-targetted financial webpage has icon menus - easy to tap. On each row I want two 70px width PNG icons and up to 4 rows of two icons - making 8 menu options. At 720px resolution WS5's CSS decisions (which I cannot control) places one icon on each row.

WSX5 is wrapping my design despite the fact that the two images total 140px of width - so let's say 280px for the icons if we include hidden table borders - twice the icon images - that leaves 440px of width on my test iPhone7 held vertically. Why is it pushing the second icon on the row down to a new row?

Is there a way to place two 70px icons on a row on an iPhone 7 - 750px of width is available? Each icon will have a link to a new page which might be another menu page or an action page.

And can we please have control over our environment when using the "Empty" template. It should not be placing these restrictions on width. It should have no imposed limits to allow us to "design".

Thanks

Paul

ciao !

Hello !
yes unfortunately you cannot extend to the width of the browser if you have more than one element in the row.

But you can add a 320px breakpoint to take advantage of the width at 720px

I hope that soon they will add the possibility of widening to full screen in the presence of multiple elements.

If you want to control icons more carefully you need 1 object.

for your icons you can use the table object and remove the borders.

you can set links as well i did not do that in my example.

Hi Andre and Claudio

I will try this. But the OG template really needs to allow a designer absolute screen freedom - especially at these smaller screen resolutions. Otherwise one is stuck with boring text menus or the hamburger.

I will let you know how it goes. I cannot share screen shots because it is the base design for a sensitive online banking project. The actual app will embed a browser window (hence the use of WSX5 for mapping the screens) for display purposes and interactivity. We do not want to have to write multiple apps for multiple and ever-changing phone variations.

Many thanks

Paul

Hi guys

Using an extended table across the width works fine at phone resolutions.

Thank you.
