Hello John,

This was probably not related to your use of the Chinese language, but instead a consequence of adding an extra line to your existing sidebar menu.

If the contents of a menu are such that WebSite X5 cannot display them within the confines of the space which you have allocated to the menu in Step 2 Template Content, then WebSite X5 will automatically show the Hamburger Button instead.

See this extract from the official WebSite X5 Guide:

Hamburger Menu

When the available space in not enough to display all the items, the menu is automatically substituted by the Hamburger Button. This happens even if you are not creating a responsive website.

ref: How to use the Menu Object

The solution is to increase the size of the 'container' which houses the sidebar menu in Step 2 Template Content:

Drag the handles of the container downwards as shown in the screenshot above.

Kind regards,

Paul

No, but the problem is solved if I remove the Chinese page from the menu.

(It isn't solved if I used English characters in the menu for the Chinese page.)

I tried widening the side bar in menu content, but to no avail.

You may want to use Chinese on a page in the Laundromat template to try to duplicate it.

You need to deepen/lengthen the menu, as opposed to widening it.

Unfortunately I can't recreate the issue.

I'll ask Incomedia to comment on this.

Well, I will ignore it. I tried lengthening the menu, but to no avail.

The problem occurs for Russian and Chinese, but not Arabic.

Thank you for your effort

Hello John

As mentioned by Paul, the fact that the menu calculates that space is not enough to fully display the text will make it so that it is automatically converted into a hamburger menu

Perhaps the Chinese characters have a particular size in their code that makes them take more space than it seems and the menu sees them as too large

I wasn't able to recreate the issue either though

If you wish to, I'll take a look at your project for you. In case this is okay with you, turn the topic private and I'll ask you to send it over to me

Thank you

Stefano
