Backup files - are they self-contained?  en

I notice the backup files W5 generates are very small. I can't imagine that the images would take so little space? Is this the complete self-contained backup? I'm wondering what to store in cloud storage in case of desktop/laptop failure.

Hello Craig,

The only complete, self-contained backup is the IWZIP file which WebSite X5 generates in Step 5 > Export the Project

It has proved itself over many years to be reliable and bullet-proof.

The built-in backup option is of some value, but personally I have never made much use of it.  After (and sometimes during) a web design session I will export the entire project to disk as an IWZIP file.  This file is then duplicated and replicated in various locations.  The IWZIP file can be imported into WebSite X5 at any time, and doing this will instantly restore the entire project.

In many years of doing this I have never lost a single WebSite X5 project, nor even any updates I was working on at the time.  It works flawlessly.  There are others here who would vouch for the same.

Kind regards,

Paul
