Problems just started with ftp upload just started  en

I have been working on this issue for the last 12 hours. I have spoken to Crazy domains (the hosting provider) but no solutions.
I have 2 websites. One with ssl and one without.
These problems just started when I tried to upload the new website via FTP to the new domain.
So Far I have tried the following

  • I can connect to the Crazy domains server via Filezilla without any issues.
  • So this tells me that all my usernames are correct
  • My friend can upload an old version of the website via x5 evo 2020 to Crazy domains without any issues
  • Have done a system restore to prior to installing Filezilla
  • Have rebooted the routers and wifi routers in the house
  • Restarted the computer several times
  • reinstalled x5 evo and tried x5 go
  • even tried to upload via x5 version 11 and ftp will not connect
  • Crazy domains says because I can connect via filezilla then there is nothing wrong with FTP connection
  • upgraded php from 7.1 to 7.4
  • changed https back to http for the server with ssl and then back to https
  • The error does not make any sense as I can connect via Filezilla and other ftp clients without issue.
  • The image supplied is from settings that I know work 100% and I have been using for 6 months now connecting via FTP
  • I have uploaded the site via exporting in x5 and uploading via filezilla but this is dam annoying.
  • As my mate can upload with the same wzip file I feel that filezilla has broken a dependancy but windows rollback should have fixed that.

Wayne, I do not host with crazydomains, but my path has / in front of public_html, try adding the forward slash?

(my 2 hosting accounts do not require ftp. in front of the FTP address either)

Hello Wayne,

In addition to Gordon's advice I will make a suggestion that you check that WebSite X5 has a clear line of sight to the server...  in other words, no interference from antivirus or firewalls (both hardware and software ones).

The Windows Firewall (for example) has unique rules for each software application.  So it's entirely possible for FileZilla to pass, whilst WebSite X5 is blocked.  If that were the case then you can of course easily reverse the block in Windows Firewall settings.

Kind regards,

Paul

@ Incomedia: ref. https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/234177

Wayne reports that he receives 'error 452' whilst attempting to connect to the server using WebSite X5.

@ Wayne: I've marked the thread for Incomedia's specific attention.  You can expect a reply from the support team within 24-72 hours.

Did you check software and hardware firewall settings for WebSite X5 in your local system/network, Wayne?

In fact I have turned all av and firewalls off.
I have not touched the firewalls on the routers as they are set and forget.
I can connect to the server via every other ftp software now except x5
Filezilla, WinSCP etc If port 21 was blocked from the router then one would expect that that the other ftp clients would not be able to connect

FOUND THE SOLUTION
When I added the second domain my Web hosting provider for some reason added my personal home ip4 address to the greylist. I have no idea why or how this happened. I thought White Grey and Blacklist only happened with emails and there is scant reference to it on the internet.
Under Website x5 V11 (I have the pro version) it mentions the word greylist upon login but I thought nothing of it. Normally greylist just means you are banned for a period of time 5 to 15 minutes and when you try again you get accepted.
This where Incomedia has really pissed me off this time. The Evo version has FTP functionality removed. This also means that any FTP debugging is stripped out as well. I don't mind the FTP client being dumbed down but at least give us a list of error codes, please.
Anyhow Crazy Domains was able to reset my account and remove my ip4 address from the Crazy Domains greylist.
I thought I would do an update for anyone else that thinks they are going crazy..
PS all other FTP clients worked perfectly during this time. Only Incomedia X5 crapped out. Trust me I tried about 10 different FTP clients to make sure I was not insane.
I have lost 4 days looking for the problem. Thinking it was me. I even bought a new hard drive and installed a fresh version of Win 10 professional.
Off Topic. Incomedia if you are still reading this far into my rant. Can you also add a dam dictionary to your product like every other product out there in the planet? Tiny spell is ok but it sucks in comparison to a native spell checker. It is just an expected part of every program nowadays.

"Under Website x5 V11 (I have the pro version) it mentions the word greylist upon login"

Please could you expand on that, Wayne.  We would like to understand what was happening.  Are you referrring to 'login' on the server?  In Step 5?

When you login in step 5 in the Evo version and you get an error. It simply gives you an error code. There is nowhere on the incomedia website that shows any correlation to what those error codes mean. In this case google searching Socket error 10014 or Error 452 gave no helpful leads.
But in step 5 of the pro version. In this case my pro version was version 11. I could see the output of the ftp console just as you would with any FTP client. As part of the client connection code one of the lines said greylist.
I  googled greylist but only came up with references to email greylisting. Nothing to do with FTP problems.
Later on after talking with the 10th person from the Hosting company they asked for my personal IP4 ADDRESS. They checked and said that it had been greylisted with Crazy Domains Hosting. She then proceeded to have the matter escalated and had my ip4 address whitelisted. I still don't know why I was able to log in via ftp with every other ftp client except for Incomedia. I understand why in step 5  you might want to limit functionality for ftp upload and download. Even though you can get a million ftp clients for free that can do the same thing. But removing being able to view ftp connection output is bizarre. Even if there is a button that shows the connection handshaking so you can see what the end server is actually commenting and not just some error 452.If  I was still  having  the  problem  I would  give  a screen  shot.
