When I change elements of the website & I preview before exporting the website shuts down. I cannot change, update, preview or export. I have tried making the changes without Preview but the changes do not export either. There is no error display. Please help.

Try a restart of pc and start up with as less other programs from your pc as possible.
Set firewall and virusscanner off, then start up x5, open project. do a preview with ctrl button pressed (takes a bit longer to load) after that close preview and see if all works like it should.
If not let us know....

Hi Andre,
Thanks for the reply. I tried that but it didn't work unfortunately. Have you any other ideas?
Best wishes,
Valerie
Hi, if you use a LAN and you have a Proxy disable the Proxy, in many cases this seems to be the problem
Furthermore, always start WEBSITE X5 as "Administrator" (click with the right mouse button on the WEBSTE X5 icon and choose "Run as Administrator")

Thank you Giuseppe, I have no LAN & running as the administrator didn't help either.
Any other suggestions?
Valerie
Try disabling your antivirus for an hour to see if you can preview? I have to do that quite often to allow a preview of my updates... eg. I use Avast and i have to Turn off the "shields" to allow previews..
@Valerie, I'm sorry you didn't solve...
Yes @Andy, with AVAST you have to disable the firewall otherwise the preview of WEBSITE X5 does not work and often it is not even possible to insert text in the Text Objects.
Valerie, if you haven't already done so, I advise you to uninstall WEBSITE X5 and install the software again, at the end of the reinstallation it is always preferable to restart the PC and then try to use the preview.
Ciao

Thank you Giuseppe. I tried that too but it hasn't improved the situation. What now?
Unfortunately now you just have to wait for someone from the Staff to intervene and hope that they can give you some indications to solve the problem

Thank you Giuseppe, much appreciated!
Valerie,
What version are you working in and was the project created in that version or upgraded from another?
Whilst you await Incomedia can you make a proper backup of your site if supported (step5 export project to create an iwzip file, do not include backups or preview). Just open the project and go directly to step 5.
If you create a new project (or have others) do you have the same problems (ie are all projects affected or is your existing project the problem.)
Can you confirm you are working locally (not across a network or onto an external device) and that you are not using one drive/drop box etc to synchronise or backup the project as you work.
And lastly, if you are using the free Go version is it possible you are trying to exceed the size (number of pages, etc) permitted?

Hi Esahc,
The project was upgraded to the lateast version from quite an old version. It was also migrated from one laptop to another. There is only one project.
I am not working accorss a network or synchronising as I go. I'm not using the go version either.
I have tried going straight to export but that didn't help either. If you have any other suggestions I would really appreciate them.
Best wishes,
Valerie
Valerie, you say the project was migrated from another laptop. Does it work correctly on the other laptop, and how was it migrated (via iwzip?)
Can you please create a new project and advise if this works correctly?
(when working with Incomedia you could perhaps remedy your current profile to reflect the version/s you are using. Details I have reference only the free and demo versions. This makes it difficult to know which advise to offer)
