What's happens if your licensing servers are down to do a software installation  en

Hello,

I understood that my software will run if I don't pay anymore Update Protection.
And my software will stay ready to run at this level of version with no possibility to do an update.

Ok I have understood this one ...

But...

If tomorrow there is some big issues with your Internet infrastructure or if the company goes down (not my wish obviously but ..). It could be not possible to continue to use the software, because during installation we need to put our license key information, and the software checks this information  with your online servers (No reachable server for checking, no installation !!!) . So if there is no more servers, our version is really out and not useful during lifetime in this situation like you said.

Or do you have a plan to delivered a specific software version with no license checking in this case ?

And same question about objects.... If I bought an object today with no installation yet, and if your infrastructure disappears, I cannot use anymore the software with this paid object, because installation will be failed !

On this post you said that the software will work in any case and even if Incomedia goes out of business !

https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/235466#16

I tried to install the software v2020.3.4 with no internet connection, and I have this message

Ok, we can continue by hand like explained, by clicking next button.

But in this window you said that we need to get the unlock code from the Help Center

Here into the generated HTML file byt heis window, you provide a link to go to the Help Center to get an unlock code.
But if your servers are down, how we could install our license ?
This link does not work to get the unlock code !!!!

So your explanation into the previous post is not correct.

I think this question will be useful for many users, and very important for us to know about our paid license.

I hope this message will stay visible, because it's a real question about our software.... Not into his usage but about its installation ....

How to install the software with no Internet connection or if your servers are down ?

Does anyone has very clear explanation on this issue ???

In any case Incomedia thank you for a deeper clarification on what happens if your online servers not working / disabled regarding OFFLINE re-installation of the software!

Enjoy!

Axel

Yes, this kind of situation is very interesting - good points Axel!

Incomedia, do you have a "back-up" server for this kind of events?

Hi Axel,

thank you for getting in touch.

Generally speaking, unlocking your licence is always possible: should you have difficulties doing it on your own, you can contact us here or at ***, and we will be unlocking it for you. If the Help Center is down we will of course fix the issue in the shortest possible time.

As far as our server is concerned, we rely on Amazon AWS: We made this choice so to have a guarantee of a stable, efficient and reliable functioning.

Thanks! Kind regards.

Hello Elisa,

So we can confirm that it's not possible to install the software if Incomedia services and/or people are not available !

So our installation is always dependent of you !foot-in-mouth

I cannot install my software on a desert island with no phone and internet. By conclusion I do not really own my purchase ....yell

@ Elisa

I know this is an anti-piracy measure - but if Incomeda, God forbid, goes out of business - ALL USERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE SOFTWARE!

This is serious issue for any user - new or old! Incomedia should change this.

If you are trying to win new users - the measures like this will not be attractive to nobody...

Elisa, we are not writing this to attack you or the company  - we are writing this to motivate Incomedia to more transparent and to produce better software.

Better, more transparent software & business policy => more (happy) users =>income growth!

@Axel

What Paolo says is very true.  I personally dislike online activation methods but they are in use by countless software companies the world over (including Microsoft).  And online activation must be agreed to before installing the software.  It has been in the Incomedia licence agreement for years:

"2. INSTALLATION Together with the SOFTWARE you will receive a Licence Key which you have to enter during installation. An online activation tailored for your hardware is also needed. With the Licence Key you can activate the SOFTWARE up to two times, should this to be necessary due to hardware exchange. After this, the PUBLISHER will make new activation codes available for your new hardware upon request. In both cases it is prerequisite that the SOFTWARE is removed from your old hardware."

Incomedia have never tried to hide this.  I wish there was another way, but I suspect online activation is used to combat piracy.

Hello guys,

Actually the process is to have an online activation. Yes Paolo, I know very weel this techno... It's also possible to create license keys with no online activation !!!  So in this case with your license you are alone on your PC to activate the key if you know all parameters to put in the key.. And it's works fine too.

The online activation has been implemented by many companies, to avoid piracy and crack...Now it is an has been solution... Even some incomedia cracks are available on the net...!!

Don't forget that any anti privacy sofwtare solution are cracked... even plsu USB key or more... Nothing can be resist...

Prove is done, no...by Incomedia cracks over Internet... Need links ????

@Paul: We don't speak here on how many times we can install the software... should be better to read carefully the post! thanks. And you compare Microsoft to Incomedia..please let's stay humble surprised they have a long way before...

So to provide a solution with no online servers or activation is possible... Not complicate.

Again today, I continue to say... like Sinisa has posted it's a big issue if we need incomedia to have any access to them or servers to activate our software.

And like you, users, I paid for a lifetime license event If I don't pay update...

Elisa, it's not true in this case... My license is not lifetime because I cannot install it without your services.

And @Sinisa said:

"Better, more transparent software & business policy => more (happy) users =>income growth!"

Absolutely true !

in fact we are not FREE with our paid software !!!

Any comments on how to fix quickly and to improve standalone installation.

It is only my opinion supported by their reaction on wishes of users and time of fixing of problems, but probably in case of company collapse programms will work till th next installation. Old versions have most templates offline but the new ones need internet for download temaplates so you could use only offline projects.

99% that Incomedia doesn't improve setup for offline installation in case of its collapse. The only hope is in users (on high level of programming) and in cracks...
