Template won't open after wx5 Evo Crash  en

Hello,

I had Website X5 Evo crash while working on my website (www.iwetmyplants.net). When I rebooted the program it would no longer allow me to open my website template. First error message was that the Website X5 was not shut down properly and second error message was that there was a corrupt file.

To resolve I have tried the following:

Resetting Windows back 4 days.

Reinstalling Website X5 Evo

Using a Command Promp for windows to fix corrupt files.

Nothing has worked.

Since re-installing Website X5 I now get a new message when trying to access my template:

"Project cannot be opened because it was created with a later version of Website X5 Evo (2020.3.7)".

Please help me gain access to my template again. The whole site was uploaded to my website iwetmyplants.net but I can no longer access it for updates and to complete it.

see that you jave latest version, else download from your portal (top right nest to your name pulldown) -> download and install that one.

If this does not work try to go back to an auto backup system from x5 by selecting the project and use backup button in open project step from x5.

If this does not help i sencerely hopt you have made backups with step5 export project (best is to use another drive then where x5 is on) and open that one.

If this all ends up with no working project then i am afraid you need to start all over. you can use text and pictures and so from internet but the project needs to made from scratch in this case.

make regular backups with step 5 so you never lose much!

I do not have a back up.

The software will not update. It keeps telling me I need to shut all my programs and reboot. I do that and do not open anything and it still gives me the same message.

Jollean, which version are you now trying to use?

As Andre stated, in your profile (top right) you can download v2020.3.8 Did you do this?

You have downloaded v2021.1.4 Did this install correctly? Can it open your project (1st time you would be prompted to make a backup copy)? Can you provide a screen print of the error message?

You say there is no backup? Did you select backup after highlighting project? Were there no backups to redo??

My system says "New updates are available (2021.1.4)..." This is the one that would not let me download. I show as having 2020.3.4. The point is moot as I cannot update to either as the sytem keeps 

I have not personally created a back up file. In two years of using the old version I have never had this issue. 

The system may have made back up files, which I would hope it would. But what I am trying to do is complete the original moderators step of upgrading it first.

Problem 1 - Help me solve why the updates won't work. Error message: "It was not possible to download files to your computer. Please verify that all programs are closed and restart the update".

Yes, I shut down all programs and tried again.

Problem 2 - Accessing the back up. Please provide the exact steps to access the back up and how to use it. When I go to "Project" then click "Back Up" I can see a list of back up files. All of them have the same error. Note: This is before I have been able to upgrade. 

I am really dissapointed in this new software. It is buggy and makes me severly regret buying it. Losing a month of work is not a minor deal here.

Strange that you can not download install files.

run the program as admin (right mouse button -> run as admin) maybe that helps also.

close firewall and virusscanner for a small time just for download and installing. Installing from top right pull down and install should always work.

For every software it's important to make backup's the older version could have had this also, maybe you got unlucky last time, but again, make always backup's you just never know.

if other files give same error with backup button and redo also with lates version if succeeded to install, then i am afraid you need to start over. Make sure to make backup's regurly if you need to start over, don't work day's on it and then have some error and get in same problem.

you handle backup correct select project, click backup and redo a file, that's it to get it working.
