Now you need a backup (iwzip file) of the project that you created with the last retail version, because you saved the project with a preview version of WebsiteX5. It cannot be opened with a normal retail version. In any case, you have to follow the instructions of the preview program and do not edit anything in your productive projects with the preview version without first having a backup copy of the sales version.

Is there no way round that? I had not realised that would be a problem and I had done quite a lot of work on the site in the preview version. I would be very tearful!

you could try to see if it is possible to copy objects or pages from the preview project into the productive project. To do this, you have to start the preview version and open the preview project and, at the same time, open the new purchase version with the productive project. when you have copied everything, click on the preview button while holding down the CTRL key and wait until the green bar has run through completely. maybe it will work - good luck

Do you know if the preview version is still available for download?

when the preview program has expired, the version no longer exists. maybe another user or Incomedia still has the installation file and makes it available to you. write the preview version in the post.

Thanks Franz-Josef.

Fortunately I have a version that is not too old.

But I was never warned of that by incomedia - I shall not be participating in future Beta tests I am afraid.

Hello Duncan,

Sorry to see what happened to you, but it's well written on the Preview page:

"Warning!
This version is still being developed: use it for test projects only or make a backup copy before opening a project with this version!"

I hope you will be okay... Good luck,

J.P.

Thank J.P
I was aware of that. I knew that the previwe could not be guaraneed to be stable. I did not realise that I would not be able to open a project that had used a preview program.

Duncan, there is one user who can only update his project every time there is a preview available ;-)

Sorry Esahc, I am not sure I understand. Do you mean, if I waited for the next preview (don't know when that will be) I would be able to open that project. Or have I misunderstood?

Apparently so :-)

But it can only be opened/updated/uploaded in a preview version.

(of course it is possible that Incomedia could disable this functionality in the future)

I find this so hard to believe. I am getting inceasingly fedup with Incomedia. Their customer service is absolute rubbish. Elisa is great but that is all. The credits system drives me mad and is, I suspect, illegal. If not, it is immoral. I offered to help with their beta/preview prgoramme. I accepted it was not stable ut I did not realise that I would not be able to open projects made using the preview program once the commercial release was out. I am gutted. I don't want to go to Worpress; I want a program that runs on my desktop. Any suggestions please folks?
