After deleting my ftp files and exporting the site again It's Crashed. Help!
Author: Stephen K.My site dr-kerr.com got cluttered with 'duplicate' pages that came up on search engines but were out of date (there were 2 or 3 '-' signs in the files name. The latest page had 3 x '-' prior to the page name. I thought it a good idea to delete everything I could using ftp and then exporting a fresh install of the site. Unfortunately, the site has stopped working and is not visible by Google or as a directly written URL
On export, W5 Evo2021 does report:"the selected server or destination folder does not match the website URL. Do you want to set it now?
Pressing 'yes' just brings me back to the same question. There are error signs on the URL box and the destination folder
Pressing 'no' allows me to export the files successfully but the website does not work.
Hopefully, it's a simple fix for someone! Please help!!
Some web hosts have a backup function for the website, depending on the package booked. In that case You can get the functioning websites back.
The problem can be traced back to the .htaccess file, which you may have also deleted. This must be retained when deleting, otherwise certain settings are no longer available.
By the way: If you call up your pages with your full name (for example dr-kerr.com/index.html), everything will still be displayed ...
If it works properly again, you have to pay attention to the following: What is still missing with you is the correct entry of the URL of the website. In this field on the export page in step 5 you have to enter https://www.dr-kerr.com then click on the preview button while holding down the Ctrl key and wait until the green progress bar has run through completely. Then upload the project completely. Actually, the message with the incorrect website should no longer be displayed.
