Questions and difficulty exporting to internet
Author: Sam S.Could you please give me more description on the fields needed to complete when exporting to the internet. The host provider tech seem clueless what I was asking for. I read the help instructions but need more elaboration.
1. The Website's address URL. Is this the Host's address or my domain's address I want uploaded?
2. On the Server type, they said FTPS..explicit... So for the FTP address, do I enter FTPS.mydomain.com or just FTP.mydomain.com?
3. I assume for username and password, I can create any for this project, correct?
4. For Destination Folder, will those folders appear only after being uploaded? And of those folders that appear, how will I know which one to pick? Or should the Host provider be the one to tell me which to use?
5. After uploading is completed, but not ready for public viewing, how can I make it so that you need a password to view the site?
1. In The Website's address URL you have to enter the domainname of your Website, eg https://www.yourdomain.com
2.-4. the host provider has given you access data. this should be the ftp address for the host access to your webspace, the user ID and a password for the access and the target directory in your webspace into which the website data is loaded.
5. You can set up protected access to the website via your project in WebsiteX5. you can find instructions for this here

On #5, could you please tell which one? I tried locking the Home page - but won't allow me.
I need the entire site locked.
Thanks
It is not possible to lock the homepage. Finally, you need at least one page to log in. You can display only the login & logout object on the homepage, so that a login is required directly when the homepage is called up.
Hello Sam,
here
In step 5 you need to put the directory name to your provider where the web site will be exported.
By clicking on the button here
You can displayed the remote disk structure to choose the good directory and validate by OK
Enjoy!

For locking the site you can use the .htaccess
It can be set up so you need a password to view the site. You can have more users in the password file.
This is the best solution if you want a whole domain secured.
But unfortunately it is only a solution recommended for experienced users as it involves editing of the .htaccess file.
If you use X5 for "security" you will need to lock all single pages as well. If not all pages is locked they can be viewed anyway. And when a page is "lockable" it will be made to a php page, and this could be confusing as the "old" html page will still exist.
