I have a web page I made with Incomedia X5. Now my wife wants to have a BLOG for herself, but we don`t want the blog to be in the web page. We dont want to get a new domain or new web site. We are thinking to have the blog as an attached part of the website I have, but we need to manage the BLOG with Incomedia Wx5 in a separate way from the website, as if it was a new website.

Has anyone tried this? Any tip I could follow? The idea is her to manage her BLOG from a diferent project from my website, but with the same internet domain.

Thanks

You could make a subfolder and then create a new X5 project in that subfolder.

In the new project you make a blog. The subfolder-project is a separate project - but on the same domain.

Your existing project could be mydomain.com

Your wifes blog-project could be mydomain.com/wife

This is as it was a new project - and it is. But it is on the same domain. Only it is in a subfolder.

Example:

I have a site here: https://pindown.eu  this is a X5 project in the root for the domain.

I then have a project in a subfolder :

https://pindown.eu/lahelp This is a different X5 project - put in a subfolder.

The URL to the subfolder project could also be: https://lahelp.pindown.eu

Don't think about the status of the example-projects - it is projects that is not ready yet.

On a domain you can have more subfolders.

This is much used when you want to have more projects on the same domain.

Using subfolders is also handy when you want to make tests. It is easy to remove a subfolder when the test is done.

Hola Patricio S.

Dominio: https://www.freenom.com/es/index.html?lang=es

Almacenamiento: https://www.freewebhostingarea.com/

Depende que que desees se puede.

Si tienes una duda nos comentas

If what you want is to use your own domain there are two options:

  1. A sub domain, they are usually free and independent, you can even create an ftp account for you to add the blog which can be: blog.domain.com
  2. A folder similar to the previous one, only the blog would remain: www.domain.com/blog

In any of the 2 options you can use another project in WebSite X5 to manage it, independently.

Now there are free options for you to have your own domain and storage, you can check:

Domain: https://www.freenom.com/es/index.html?lang=es

Storage: https://www.freewebhostingarea.com/

It depends what you want, you can.If you have a doubt, tell us

Greetings

Patricio, you may wish to consider a standalone blog. In the past I have used blogger (free) and embedded in my website, but the advantage is that it can also be accessed through Blogger and updated independantly of WX5. Her users could access it simply as a menu option on your domain or use the blogger sub-domain.

If you and your wife are using different PC's it would mean less hassles with licensing and your wife could update the blog whenever she wished on "any" device.
