Hello All,
I'm using Website X5 Pro v2021.5.7
I've been asked to create a website for a group of volunteer authors who want to write and publish articles directly to the website. I don't know whether this is possible but I'm exploring the possibility of using Locked Pages, Access Management, Blog (step 1) and the Blog Widget.
The grassroots organisation has a hierarchy in place, authors, editors, etc. there is a need for articles to be reviewed, before being published by the Editor...
QUESTION:
- Can a structure like this be set up in Website X5? / What is the best way to create this type of environment? / Is it even possible here?
INITIAL IDEAS / THOUGHTS:
- All members (Authors/Editors etc) should be able to access locked pages, one of which could contain a Contact Form Object for Authors to submit articles to the Editor for review/publishing - is there a better way?
- How would I give the Editor the ability to publish articles - without them having the software (and the project files) installed on their machine?
Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Using X5 it is only a "owner" of the software that can start a post on a blog.
You can use 3. party software.
Be inspired here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-choose-the-best-blogging-platform/
It could look like an advertisement for WordPress - but I think it is not. WordPress is simply the best solution for blogging. And unless you want sophisticated features - it is free.
But there is also: https://www.creativebloq.com/web-design/best-blogging-platforms-121413634
And for the more experienced users: https://www.webfx.com/blog/web-design/open-source-blogging-platforms-for-developers/
Dependent on the solution youn choose you can integrate the blog in your X5 by making it available in the menu as a link - or if the software allows it, then you can integrate the blog on a page (could be a locked page) in your X5 project.
Hi Tristam,
thank you for getting in touch.
The first part, where the authors access the locked page where the contact form for the article submission is reported, is perfectly doable with WebSite X5: you simply activate the automatic or manual registration, as you prefer, so the authors can register and access the locked page in question.
As per the editor, if you want to use the Blog I confirm that the software is necessary for them to publish the articles. Alternatively, you could use the Dynamic Content Object: with this Object, you can create a dynamic section on the page you add the Dynamic Content on, which can be then edited directly online with text and images.
Please let me know if I can be of any further help. Kind regards.
