Drive letters are missing from left pane in the insert picture dialog  en

The insert picture dialog is different from previous X5 versions now and I'm no longer able to insert pictures from locations different than C:\... no access to USB drives nor mapped drives on my NAS.

Unfortunately I also cannot get back to C:\ once I switch to Pictures or Documents on the left pane as I do not see drive letters in the left pane. This looks different from what is shown in post WebSite X5 Help Center  - Loading pictures from root area. There are two drives visable in the left pane, but not on my screen. Press CTRL key does not have any benefit.

With the Open file location button I can get into Windows explorer, but no result is returned once I select a picture and doubleclick it - my linked picture app opend instead of.

Same issue in latest PRO and EVO updates ...

Any idea what's wrong in my environment? And how could this be resolved?

Hello Franz

Are you running the software as an administrator or as a normal user?

Whichever of the two you're using, can you try using the other one? See if the disks appear then

I remain available here

Hello Daniel and Stefano,
thank you for your responses. Two options above resolve the issue:

  • Access to Explorer window with holding Ctrl key while click on 'Insert picture' button (!!!)
  • Running X5 as an administrator shows local drives in the left pane and gives access to USB devices too.

Thank you for your support!

Best regards, Franz
