Fade zoom settings gone in new version?

I used to be able to adjust the fade zoom in my photo gallery. I used this to create a zoom out effect starting with a large photo and fading to small - giving an "fade into the distance" type effect. However, I've noted that those settings are no longer available. What happened to them? Is there another way I can do the same thing in my photo gallery?

Hello. Which gallery object are you talking about?
Author
It's under the photo gallery object, effect properties. Used to be a second tab in there where I could set the zoom ratio when choosing "2 - Fade" option. I don't see that any more. I used it to create a zoom out into the distance effect for my website.
Maybe the effect "7 - Zoom" is what you're looking for?

Thanks Daniel - but not quite. I may have to install an older version now to get it back because the option has clearly been removed. On the "2-Fade" option, when I applied that to a photo in my gallery, i could then set a second parameter that would allow me to control the fade, almost like having 2 effects working on one object. I would set each photo at 175% of size then have it gradually fade out to about 50% of size - giving the illusion of fading off into the distance. I can no longer do that with this new version.

As a follow on - since that option has been removed, now that Ive updated my site with the new version, that fade into the distance setting I had no longer works on any photo on my site.

I loaded the 2023 version, where I had been using it. I've enclosed a screen capture of the Zoom & Position feature which I don't see any more. This was a tab option in the Fade effect.
Hello Dave,
I can confirm that this function was removed in version 2024.2 unfortunately.
It was a common effect in website design in the past, but nowadays it is seldom used in more modern-looking websites, and as the setting was also used by few users, we made the decision to remove it to also simplify the UI.

Hello Eric
Is there a spy-tool in X5 that we users is not aware of?
How con you tell that the zoom-function is only used by few??????????
In older projects I use the function. You can use it to create a kind of Ken Burns effect. Really nice function.
In older versions of the gallery-object there also was a function where you could specify which images should be shown on specific pages. Very useful when the object was used in the header.
Do you have a plan that as time goes, then function after function will be removed? And then there will only be paid-for-objects that each has some of the functionality - but not too many.
And again: I have never seen a user-survey from INCOMEDIA where they ask how we users use X5 and what is good and what is bad in the product, so how can you know what function we use in the product and which functions/settings we use in the objects?

Good Morning Eric,
I concur with John S. that this is a bit disconcerting to learn via sureptitious removal instead of, perhaps, asking actual users of your software if this (or any) feature is being used. Because of this removal, my website no longer works as I'd designed and I now have to redesign it to get a similar effect (hopefully). I've been using your software for many years and have upgraded each year to adopt new features and plugins that I find useful. However, given that features are being removed based on inhousse decisions without any notice to your users/developers, it leaves me to ponder looking at another product to do my design that will offer more revisional stability. I ask that your deveopment team reconsider this feature and add it back in via patch update. Also - I"d also liek to see a product survey to inquire about features used and perhaps new desired features. This would give your team a development direction that will keep your customers loyal to your product. With customer satisfaction and support taking a downward trend these days, bucking that trend will offer a better opportunity to retain customers and develop new ones through referrals and positive social media feedback.
Hello Dave,
I can of course understand the inconvenience if it was an effect commonly used on your website in various pages.
I will report your feedback.
Eric
@Eric C.
How did you find that the feature is used by only few users?
On which background did you decide to remove it?
Hello John,
looking at sample websites created by our users, and considering the trends of modern websites in general, it was considered an outdated feature.
I will report your feedback to consider the future addition of a similar function again.

Eric - not everyone posts their website samples in your gallery. I've created many and never posted them there. Never thought there'd be a need to. Appreciate you pushing this feedback up the chain and have them give serious consideration on restiring that feature. Also - I suspect many of us who use your product would be happy to provide ample feedback on current-use features as well as any new features to consider for future releases. I understand the need to stay with "trends", but to break the backward compatibility of your product by removing features is so "Microsoft" ....

Eric - before I go through my websites and reprogram everything I had set using this feature, is there any chance this feature will be returned to the next feature update? Also - If your development team is going to remove features in the future, any chance you could first poll your users to ensure it doesn't impact us? I'm concerned about putting more features into websites only to find they've been pulled out and have to redesign sites again.
Hello Dave,
if the feature will be added again, it is not likely for this to happen in the next few updates.
I will report this feedback so that we can consider using a poll or similar system to have a more concrete understanding of the amount of users with a specific function/feature.
