Missing feature in 202443 claimed in changelog?  en

The changelog for 202443 says "ALT text is essential for optimizing your image SEO and improving the accessibility of your web pages.  Now you can apply it to your product images, boosting your online shop's ranking on search engines."

I've been asking for this for along time - very excited that its included in 202443.....  but I cannot find where to add the Alt text?  Its not in the Product Setings for the product, and its not in the Image Editor of the product.

Please tell me where it is...?

Is it in the changelog but missing in the release?

Adrian

Mine is nothing like that.....

If I highlight the image and then click on Edit - I get the image editor popup. I do not get the popup window to add alt text.

And the second example - I don't use the created product pages so I can't do it that way.

I did the 202443 upgrade after it was released, not beta. Did you update yours from beta?

For "Details" and the inserted images you have to click until a dashed border appears around the image, only then does the selection menu appear when you right click like in my screenshot.

Without the dashed border, the other selection menu appears as in your screenshot.

I first installed the beta version, later I clicked on the user name at the top right and selected “My Profile”, then downloaded and installed the current version under “Download”. I found the appropriate license key under “License Key” and copied it and pasted it into the installation program.

Don't click on "Edit", but the symbol to the left of it.

Thanks for that information.  Don't know what to make of the difference. Hopefully incomedia takes a look.

Thank you again!

frown Sorry, as I just found out during a test, Incomedia has apparently completely removed the “Title” and “Alt Text” functions in the “Image” section of the shop in the current version.

The product name is now automatically displayed with the alt tag in the source code. The user cannot provide different information for the product name and alt tags. Is this a mistake?

Actually, the Alt tag should contain a description for the visually impaired.

Yes the alt tag should be free form to enter. Disappointing.......... :(

Thanks for doing the check.

So Incomedia, whats up with that? So close to the right thing and then a fail......???

Now it is displayed correctly, apparently if you make changes you have to request the data from the server again with Ctrl+F5. And you shouldn't do things like that in the middle of the night (I live in Germany) after many hours on the PC.

If no information is provided for the alt tag for "Image", then WebSiteX5 uses the product name, otherwise the information provided by the user.

smile Here are the screenshots of the settings in WebSiteX5 and the results in the browser with source code.

PS.: I'm going offline for around 12 hours now.

Hello Adrian,
when editing a product, do you see this icon in your interface? When hovering on it it should show "Description", that is where you can add the Alt tag, as described by Daniel.

I an confirm that appears to work.  Its a bit offputting - as the option is "Greyed" not dark like the Edit button next to it which is dark.

Even after you add to the available fields the button still shows as grayed....

But it appears to work! Excellent news.

Thank you
