Error while loading + runtime error 5  en

Author: Derek H.

Hi,

I made several amends to one of my websites yesterday and after exporting to my webspace, I saved and closed the project and got a "Runtime error 5" message.

Now when I try to open the website file again it says "Error while loading project".

I have read several posts and tried renaming the .bws file to .iwp but the same message still happens and the site cannot be opened to do further editing.

I have a back-up which will open, but it is a full day's work behind the current file.

I can send you a zipped up copy of the site hoping that you can help but it is 8mb in size, so cannot be sent from here.

The website is at www.doorindustryjournal.co.uk

Regards,

Derek Hibbart

Derek update your X5 program to 8.0.16 then try it!!

Runtime error 5 is usually associated with the registry you could run a cleaner....

If you want to send your 8MB project zipped use:

http://db.tt/UCTf7WA

Many X5ers use this and find it very useful for this sort of thing.... You can use it for future backups too!!

Nice site also Derek.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have done both and still it will not run.

Last time it did this I discovered that by moving the .iwp file to the desktop and then back into the folder it came from it worked - this time it will not work.

I am still getting the error while loading message.

I will email you a link via your website to my website files so you can take a look.

Thank you

Derek

Dear Noemi,

Thanks for responding to my query.

I am unable to update my website. The moment I run the "website export to internet" I get an error called runtime error 5 : Invalid procedure call or argument. (Screeshot attached). My website link is http://www.vebsar.com

As mentioned earlier I tried the cleaner. I tried reinstalling the software and I also tried installing the updates. Still facing same problem. Need serious help over here.

Regards,

Bhavesh Sarna.

Derek H., I kindly ask you to send us your project file .iwp to file@answers.websitex5.com. Please put the name "Riccardo" and the post number "28103" into the e-mail subject. Our software developers will try to recover your project file.

Bhavesh S., thanks for the attached screen shot. It seems that the run-time-error is caused by one of the files which need to be uploaded. Please, check which file does block the export process. Eliminate that file from your project and try to export again. Afterwards, please add the file again and export.

Kind Regards,

Noemi

Hi,

Thanks Noemi, it works now.

But this is really risky. The page which had problem had gone blank. Luckly I had a backup of that page. But I do not have backup for every page. Is there any way to avoid such problems in future.

Regards,

Bhavesh Sarna
