I am using WebsiteX5 V8 and first time creating a Blog. I've already created the "blog/comment" folder so that posted messages can be saved in this folder. I use my FTP application to set the write permission for the comment folder. BUT I don't see how people can post into the Blog.

My client's website is "http://www.exfranciscans.org/blog/index.php" Please advise. Thanks

I am having a similar problem.  There isn't a "Post comments to this blog" dialogue anywhere.  On my blog, the only way I can see the comments dialogue box is to click on the "Read all" link which is no use to readers of the blog as they won't know to click it.

Ben, I notice that you don't have a "Read all" link.  However, I have had a look in the blog set up but can't see how that could be turned on/turned off.  I think the Incomedia guys need to have a look.

1) What exactly did you typed in the "Public path folder " ?

2) Did you checked the "Let the user comment your entries" box ?

3) Your blog folder on your server must have it's file permissions set to 777. Can you check this out ?

#1 an #2 above are settings that you'll find in the Comments tab, step 4, Advanced settings, Blog.

#3 has to be made by using an external FTP client software, like Filezilla, or by asking your web hosting company.

1. my public path is "blog/comment/"

2. Yes checked that box too.

3. Yes file permission set to 777 and fyi , using FTP will not get the folder with write permission. I had to ask the host upport people to do that setting.

My biggest puzzle is... I am not getting any errors to indicate what is not being setup right??? wouldn't it at least pop up an error if something is wrong??

Thanks B.

Hi Bernard,

My blog set up was exactly how you have described.  I did use Filezilla to set the permissions.  But the comments dialogue box doesn't appear.  Does it apear on the bottom of your blog posts?  Can you show me an example?

Sorry B, how would changing path to "/blog" help? I thought the path is appended from whatever is inserted in the settings under comments tab. I'm confused:(

Tony, were u able to set the permission using FTP (Filezilla) ? My host wouldn't allow that and I had to request the host personnel to grant the write permission for the public folder.

Yes, is there any sample sites that we can check out?

Thank you so much B Cool

Ben,

Yes my host 1and1 (www1and1.co.uk but they have different country sites .eu .fr .de etc) lets me change permissions on files and directories.

Well, just try to add the slash / before your path.

Done that already B.... its now /blog/comment/

I don't know what else to do ??? Do you think the public folder could be the problem? Maybe it doesn't have the write permission. Anyway to check that it has 777 permission?

I've attached a screenshot of what my host support indicates.

TQ God for sending Steve!

Remove the comment form? How does one do that? I think another person in this same topic "Tony" is also facing the same problem. We can't see the comment form which mean no one can post any comments.

No I do not get any error! I wish there is an error message so that I can work on that. I am attaching a screenshot which depict Greeting and Welcome Back with blank space below it.

Thanks Steve:)

How was this problem solved,

I am on V8 and can get admin  panel up but do not have any options to cancel, delete the two test blogs created in website5x. I also do not have any options to add comments in the blog.

All file permissions are correct, however the blog/comments/ folder created does not have any files in it.
