Spam after removing guestbook  en

Author: Diana D.

I removed my guestbook from my website because I was receiving spam. Now I use the e-mail form instead that I have called guestbook. I thought that my problem was solved, but now I still receive spam on a daily basis on a guestbook that does not exist anymore. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thank you very much. gr. Diana

Hello Diana,

if you correctly removed the guestbook from your site you cannot have spam through it.

Are you getting the spam in your email?

Could you please provide me with the url of your site and of your guestbook?

Thank you

Hi Michele,

I have been away so i am sorry I did not reply earlier, thank you for answering.

Yes I am getting it in my e-mail because in the guestbook I had to put my e-mail in.

Now I still call it a guestbook but I used an e-mail form instead, and on that form I get no spam.

I think there still is something active on the site because it gets worse, this morning I received 87 spam on the guestbook with this number:  70943501

My website is: www.dianadegraaf.nl

I hope I have given you the right info and Thank you very much.

with regards

Diana

Hi Michele,

I looked in the www and there was:  guestbook.php

I just removed it, do you think that was it?

Thank you, with regards

Diana

Wink

DELETE your entire website off the server...

Then do a "FULL" upload again without any guestbook!!

Hello Diana,

if your guestbook is not online anymore is not possible that you receive span messages from it, maybe you still have some files on your hosting space that you need to remove.

Please do what Chekky Man suggested, remove all the files from the server and then export again the whole site.

Keep us updated, thank you

Hello Cheeky Man and Michele,

Yesterday I replaced the website by uploading a blank website and than I removed all the files by hand. Than I uploaded my website without the guestbook and today I had no spam.            so Thanks again for your help!

But I think there must be an easier way to delete a full website than the way I did it, but I did not dare to delete the complete www. Was afraid to delete important files.

Can you tell me how I can remove a full website without doing something wrong?

Hello Diana,

in order to remove all your files from your server you can make use of any FTP program, you can use an external program like FileZilla or  the internal FTP engine of WebsiteX5.

In every case you should connect to your hosting provider, select all the files of your unwated website and delete them all togheter.

I don't think there is a faster way of deleting all the files via FTP.

Hope this helps
