Welcome Page: URL Problem.  en

I am having a problem with the Welcome Page on my English/German website www.startrekphase2.de

I have confirmed this problem with the latest version: 9.1.3.1937

My website is setup as follows:

When someone calls www.startrekphase2.de, a script determines if the browser is German or English and then redirects to www.startrekphase2.de/de or www.startrekphase2.de/en respectively. The English website is found in the /en/ directory and German in /de/

The Welcome Page is setup to play an intro video while displaying UK and German flags which the user can click on to manually choose the language, otherwise the detected language is displayed after showing the video clip. Clicking on the flag should take the user to the respective home.html page, e.g. http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/home.html

The problem is as follows.

On the German version of the website, on the Welcome page under language List, there is a setting for "Deutsch (preset)" and the added language "English". Under settings for English, I want to use: http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/home.html (or even just /en/home.html) so that when the user clicks on the flag, he is taken straight to the English home page. If I were to leave the default "/en" setting, the user would be sent to the intro video again on the English version of the site. However, if I set that field to "http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/home.html", when the user clicks on the UK-flag for English, he is sent to "http://www.startrekphase2.de/en/home.html/" instead (with an unwanted trailing "/") which generates an error 404 page not found error.

The same applies to the english language site in the reverse direction.

As a workaround, I have added additional /english and /deutsch directories with a simply redirect to the correct home.html page. However, this is not a pretty solution and I would prefer this bug in WebsiteX5 to be fixed. Basically, if the url ends in ".html", no "/" should be added to the end.

The help page for this issue states:

Server path or URL of the Website for this Language: you can specify the name of the folder on the Server where this language version of your Website project will be stored, for example "EN" for the site in English. Alternatively, you can type in the site's complete URL, for example "http://www.mysite.com/en/index.html".
If you are working on the preset language version of the Website, you do not give a complete URL but only the name of the folder on the Server.

As the software does not act as stated in the help file, I consider this to be a software bug and hope I have described it well enough to be understood and fixed.

Regards

Peter
