Multi-language website setup  en

Hello,

I have just purchased WebsiteX5 and want to set up my website in English and German.

I understand that I need to have two different projects, one for each language. Parent language would be German, the child language would be English

First question:

Is the complete contents duplicated, i.e. if I insert a gallery with 20 photos into the parent language project, will the photos be uploaded twice to the server or will the child language project file retrieve the photos from the parent language project?

Second question:

How are changes to the website handled? Let's assume I add a new gallery or a new page to my parent language. Do I have to repeat the same steps in the child language project and export the differences? So I would have to do the work twice, exactly the same?

Thanks a lot for your input - I'm just not sure anymore if my understanding is correct.

Best regards

Sandra

Hi Sandra!

Unfortunately you must repeat all the changes you make to the parent project in the child project, Sandra. And the images will be upoload twice to the server.

An alternative is to store the images in a folder of your server, and just link both projects to these images. It will save some space, of course!

Hope this may be useful, and please excuse some English error!

Hi Marcus,

thanks for your answer although this is bad news :(

I might try storing the images in one folder but having to replicate the work is also bad so I might ask for a refund.

Thanks and best regards

Sandra
