Should I set up my Website for HD?

My website Template looks pretty tiny in the middle of the screen. It only takes up about half of the screen, the rest is background. Maybe it is because I have an HD monitor. Should I set up the website for HD? If so, do I need to download an HD template? (I'm actually running X5 evolution 8 and I am very new to all this).

I think there are no special HD templates. All of the templates are optimised for a resolution 1024x768. If you want to make a website optimised for another resolution, you have to create a Custom Template, and then you will have the possibility to set the width of your page. But you have to optimise your website for your visitors and not for your own monitor: not everyone has an HD monitor. This is your choice but I think it is better to use the default page width. It will be good for most of your visitors.
