How do I allow users to set their own id and password to access secure areas? I would also like to be able to approve the id before it goes live. I am using X5 V9 for my websites now and it is otherwise working very well.

You have to setup a Registration Form. This is for members to register with their own alias and password. Then you have to manually insert these into the Access Management section.
You cannot register and log straight into your members area.... X5 V8 or V9 doesn't work like that.
