Graphic in footer

I've created a 1 pixel high graphic in order to separate the footer information from the rest of the page.
When i insert this graphic into the footer it defaults to 12 pixels in height, so giving me a much thicker line than I want.
I originally used a graphic from the WSx5 suite but have since created my own in Irfanview.
It displays perfectly in Irfanview but not in WSX5 v9.
Any thoughts anyone?

To overcome this I've overlaid a same size graphic and nudged it up to give me a one pixel line.

You can also create a graphic that has as height 12px and you add a neutral background color like white and there you add the 1px graphic. Once added in the header or footer you enable the transparency and you choose the background color you added, in this case white, and then you higher the tollerancy factor until the background color is no more visible.
