I am in the process of porting a major website from v8 to v9 and I have had a lot of problems with disappearing images. 

In the original v8 project, I had a lot of text cells with images inserted into them. It worked fine in v8 and was used extensively. When I imported the project into v9, a strange thing happened. You can often still see the images in Preview, yet when you open the text cell to edit it, all the images are no longer there. If you then edit the cell and click OK, the images are then gone. If you add the images again manually, the images stay and act normally again.

I have enclosed an image showing what the cell looks like in the preview, the same cell in edit mode and finally what the cell lookes like when uploaded.

The image on the left is how it appeared in v8 and the Preview of v9 before editing.

The image in the middle shows the cell after opening it. The images are all gone.

The image on the right shows what the unedited cell looks like after uploading. Some of the images are replaced by empty boxes.

This bug is causing me a lot of wasted time as I am having to go through each page and reinsert each image lost this way.

I consider this to be a major bug in the software and hope it can be fixed, soon.

Let me add that another strange thing is that not all images are displayed as empty boxes. On the image on the right, the top and bottom images are still shown on the finished website. I have since reinserted the images on my website. You can however still see the bad version here:

I have the same problems with images disappearing.

If I insert it in a text object, at first its ok, when you re-open the text object, or dare to click on that image, its gone...very time concuming.

Further more, when I export an iwzip to another computer ( that had never seen the images before ) cause it wat nog created on that computer, then at first everything looks fine, all the images are there if I ask for a preview.

But, when you open the page, the image preview is gone, the path is still the path on the old computer, and after clicking on the preview, the images disapear.

This is a disaster, for I have clients waiting to start on their own computer, with the iwzip created on mine. They will have no images as soon as they start working with it.

The problem with images that disappear still exist after the beta update. I can't preview the images when inserted in a text cell!

I have looked at this problem with Evo 9 (Windows 7) when selecting an image, if it is from a stored path from Evo 8 the image does not appear. It appears in preview pane but when the cell is selected it disappears. If you look at properties for the original image i.e. propertioes windows 7 pictures you will find many replications (these replications are for old evo 8 projects. You must select the original image in the folder. The original image will not have the file path of Evo 8 project. Logic would dictate that you would eventually delete those evo 8 projects and therefore the evo 8 image copies.

Is it solved yet?

I've got the same problem. But it's only with png and pictures inside text objects. Otherwise they appeare as they should.

Well it seems I spoke to soon. Same problem in galleries. What I cant understand is why they work so well in the preview and when I save or upload the image is damaged...

Or can it be something related to the license. I had the version 8 installed on another computer. When I bought the upgrade to the 9 I've installed it in this one.

If the problem is diffused in more object types, it could be that those PNGs are too large. Did you try to use smaller files?

They are only 2 to 4 kb...

Do those jpg files have a untypical name?

Can you type here the path of one of those images?

What happens if you start a new project with the latest version of the software? Does this issue still exist?

With a new project and a latest beta (or not) version of v9 software, the problem still exist. No picture (.png) inside text object, with left alligment. On preview it's ok, but on air it's not. I tried to delete everything from server and re-upload it again. Same problem.

Please fix it because we have a big problem to create a typical good website with your paid software.

Make sure the images' names are do not contain special chars. That could prevent the software to find them.

The original issue with images in the text object was solved in 9.0.3.

Typical name of images:

cart_10_internet_connection_setup.png

or

cart_74_virus_backup_windows.png

as you can see the only "special" or not is "_".

So? I use a special characters or not?

Also i forgot to tell you, that when i convert all "issues" images to gif from png, with same image name (ex. cart_10_internet_connection_setup.gif) everything is working fine!!! (you can check it here: www.468.gr)

So where is the problem? Maybe in png code?

Hi,

"_" is not a special char so we can exclude that problem. It could be that the PNGs are in a non-standard format and so the softwre can't operate on them correctly.

What if you convert them into jpg? It's the best format for WSX5 and the web as well.

I like to use png or gif images format because i want transparency iamges for your styles backgrounds...

Today i noticed the same half/problem with gif format.

(On all images i use link to page)

When i create the site with images and upload it, no images on site.

I deleted the images and insert same images, re-upload it and now is fine.

I don't know why need to insert and upoload it for second time to work fine.

We are talking for same images (gif) with link to page on them.

* Also when you add text + style and want to have bullet list on text, the bullet/s not appear!!!
