The project cannot be opened? Have you tried to open the folder where the project is stored and then to delete the project.ipwrj and rename te backup.iwprj in project.iwprj?
For the csv file have you checked that for all products the description is present and also that the semicolon (;) is not present?

I had the same problem once. The file project.iwprj couldn't be deleted. even not after a restart of the computer. It was simply blocket.
I solved the problem to copy the "website project directory" without the project.iwprj
Than rename the backup file. That worked.
It's impossible to delete the old "project directoy" because of the bloked file.. so with that one you have to live. (unfortunately)
