I have a problem and don't know the best way to resolve it. I am the web master for a local, weekly newspaper, http://www.themountainsentinel.com The editor wants the same rotating banner ads on every page. I use a programs that uses flash animation for each group of ads, by cost: primary, secondary, regular a, regular b, and free. The program saves the file to whatever directory I tell it to. Should I save the file to Incomedia/WebSite X5 v9 - Evolution/The Mountain Sentinel/Preview/files?

Well, I got so frustrated that I went out to feed the chickens. I realized that I forgot something. The ads change and I want all pages to reflect those changes. Each flash file is saved to a location. If I save the files to the Incomedia directory and subdirectory, then if each page's flash files should have that location on my PC. At least that's what I'm assuming. I don't want to have to update location on every page every time I make ad changes. I'm probably not being clear enough, but I'm trying.

I am so confused. If I save the modified flash files to the path of the website on my of the site in the Infomedia directory and each of the files on the pages of the site shows that path, will the ad all be updated? It should, but I just found the problem today and freaked out. The published site came out all wrong as far as the rotating advertisement go. What was primary on the first page wasn't primary on some other page. I could give myself a swift kick in the backside.

Hello Kitty,

The flash file ( the .swf file) can be saved on every location on your computer because in the program it needs to be imported with the Flah Object in Step 3 and then the program will save it in the correct location on the server once uploaded. If yuo make any changes to the file it needs to be updated in the program and then exported again.

Please feel free to write back if you need more information.

I sorta figured that out. What I'm going to do is go back and make sure all the files at the same on each page. There's one thing I miss about Front Page, the shared borders. You insert on one page and if you have shared borders on all pages, each page updates. But like I stated before, my Front Page is from 2002 so I suspect it will not be usable much longs. It only partially works in VISTA. Nothing is perfect.
