Hi,

I have just upgraded to version 10 of Website X5 but the preview does not work. I just keep getting the following error message...

Error -118 when loading url http://127.0.0.1:8080/index.html

Any ideas how to fix this as the program is no use to me if I can't preview my site before I upload it!

Hello Stephen,

please verify that the connection is not blocked by a firewall.

You can also try to change the connection port from 8080 to something else, you can do this in the "preferences" of WebSite X5 Evolution 10 at the startpage.

Please keep me updated, thank you

I've tried changing the port numbers and made sure it's not being blocked by the firewall, but nothing works unfortunately. Just keep getting that error message, no matter what settings I try.

Hello Stephen,

it seems like something is blocking the connection. Please try to disable the firewall and the antivirus and try again.

Could you tell me what antivirus and firewall are you using?

Thank you

I am not happy disabling my firewall and anti-virus I'm afraid, just to run certain programs.

I am using Zone Alarm firewall and AVG anti-virus. Are there any known issues with these programs?

Oh, I have tried modifying all the settings in Zone Alarm to make sure nothing is blocking it, but nothing I try works. Still getting the same error in Website X5 when trying to preview.

I just tried disabling the firewall completely and even that doesn't work.

Hello Stephen,

You're right it's not good to completely disable the firewall but was just to try that it was not the problem. Could you tell me what Operating System are you using, pleae provide some additional info like if it's 32 or 64 bit.

To be sure that the issue is with the Impreview please copy/paste the url from the impreview browser to another browser and tell me if you get the same error.

In addition, if you are running your pc in a lan, you can try to set your IP addres instead 127.0.0.1.

Finally you can try the following:

Reinstall the framework .NET 4, in order to to that you can follow this post

 http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx

and then this one

http://www.microsoft.com/it-it/download/details.aspx?id=17718

(this is written to be for Windows Vista ma it should work also for newer version of Windows.

Please keep me updated, thank you

This desktop PC is running Windows 7 64 bit, with Zone Alarm and AVG anti-virus.

My laptop at home is running exactly the same setup, and I tried installing Website X5 on there last night and the preview actually worked on that computer. But it still refuses to work on my office PC, which is where I need the software. I don't know why as the setup is exactly the same on both systems.

I have just tried doing a fresh install of both firewall and AV on this system but no luck, the preview still isn't working. I will keep trying a few more things today and will get back to you.

Ahh...I've solved the problem! I had forgotten that when I first had this PC it came with Bulldog Internet Security installed - but then I switched to using Zone Alarm and AVG instead (that was over a year ago). I thought I had completely uninstalled Bulldog at the time, but after some digging around today I found there were still traces of it left on my system - even though there's no reason why anything from it should still be running. It hasn't caused any other problems with any other software until now so I have no idea why it suddenly took a dislike to the preview in the latest version of WebsiteX5! But I just cleaned out any remaining traces of Bulldog and that seems to have done the trick, so there must have been something left over from that which was blocking the preview. But I still have no idea why it only affected this latest version of WebsiteX5 and not any other programs.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused!
