What does Email protection mean

When I put an email link in a web page it asks me if I want Email protection. What does that mean please?

Hello,
It means that letters of the e-mail address you see or is linked, are "unordered" using JavaScript (in the page's code). When clicking this link only, your e-mail address is "reordered". This is for Spam protection as crawlers won't be able to collect the address easily.
