Image Generation Error  en

When building a gallery I get random Image Generation Errors.

I can sometimes work around this by selecting the image from the list then hitting edit and okay. Its random in nature and I think it relates to X5 Evolution 9 as I don't seem to have encountered this in version 8.

The upshot is that I can't post galleries without this error cropping up, has anyone else come across this? and if so what work around do you use. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Okay a little update on the problem I posted earlier.

After posting I decided to enter the Beta program and down loaded the lastest Beta version. The good news is the problem reported appears to have been addressed and fixed.

So if anyone else encounters the Image Generation Error when creating galleries this might be the resolution you are after.

Thanks, I have the same issue with regards to V9 compared to V8 image galleries and related image generation erros.. Along with sub menu issues..not appearing on some devices , ie smart phones / ipads etc. Which I hope they will address in the next couple of updates.

Good ( or though not for you ) that others are having similar issues, as I was begining to think it was just me !

Will have to take a look at the beta update.

Yes Klaus, please note that sometimes it is necessary to have some useful info as the URL of the website or the license data. Please also note that anyone is free to do NOT show here his personal URL...

Moreover because I think this error could be related to some personal settings, I suggest you to open your personal post so we can check all the info you can provide us (HW config, Operating system, etc).

ThanksWink

Hi there.

I have found this "Image Generation Error" problem a few times.

It happened today on a whole slideshow set.

The published project shows this slide show and the "fade" effect I had set appears to be operating ok. However, all that appears on each successive slide is my PC's path to each picture file.

(On my PC, this photoalbum is operating ok in "preview".)

I THOUGHT it might be that the publishing process was skipping these files so I performed a total publishing of ALL files to no avail but I am wondering if it has something to do with the updating/refreshing of the preview files?

If I replace the pictures AGAIN, with the same ones, the problem is solved but that doesn't explain why this happens and it is very dangerous that this could happen when I am NOT aware!

It's no good asking me for any examples as I've fixed all that I found wrong ASAP for my site integrity Undecided

Hi There,

Well just installed the latest and greatest and this problem is back AGAIN!

So people out there is you have a Gallery you better check the Preview works before exporting else your website will be compromised. I caught this just in time else I would have a website on line that was a total mess.

Not sure what steps to take now I need this to work for the integrity of my site and feel a little let down to be honest.

Hello Mark, the problem should be related to the fact that you moved the files from the path that is saved into WSX5. You have to know that when you install ad updated version of WSX5 the website has to be recreated in order to apply all the modification we did.

Before the update, it worked just because, if there are no modification, WSX5 uses the images from its cache.

In this way, WSX5 starts from the save path for the images you choose, and recreates the images (and the galleries too). The images are missing from the saved path, so you see the error message.

You can solve in 2 ways:

  1. restoring the images in the path saved in WSX5. You have just to access to a gallery object and check the images path.
  2. Link the images from the new path

I hope you understand what I mean.Let me know, Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the quick response, its appreciated.

As for the correct paths to the images these all appear to be okay and in fact was the first line of my investigation. If I take one of my galleris all the pictures are stored in the same directory however when I preview the gallery I find some pictures are present and others display the Image Generation Error.

I will select each image in turn the select edit and okay, this resolved the problem previously but when you have over 300 images thats a lot on mouse clicks each time you ammend your site.

Thanks Mark, that's strange, just because when you click edit and then OK, the program recreates the images as same as the software does when you update it.

Please also note that if you press CTRL when you click on the Preview button, WSX5 recreates all the website at all! You can try if you want.

Please also check if the image error is random or not. If it is, then the problem could be related to the PC memory (?) Undecided

Update:

Highlight an image in the gallery list, click edit then okay. This works but takes time depending on the number of images you have in any given gallery.

OR

As Steve kindly pointed out, when you preview your site hold down the CTRL button and click preview. This takes time to complete but has resolved the Image Generation problem, so in summary it now works.

Thanks Steve for the help.
