When I start up Website X5 (Evolution 9) it does not connect to the Incomedia server so I cannot get any updates (the opening screen is now blank) nor can I now upload updates to my website as I get an error message (unable to connect to server - check with your internet provider that you have the correct connection information).
The connection information is correct and hasn't changed.
How do I fix this?

Hi Stephen, have you recently made any changes to your antivirus or firewall? Try temporarily disabling both very briefly to see if you can then connect.

Thanks - there have been no changes, but I've tried this anyway - still unable to connect to the Incomedia server.
Hello Stephen,
Is the upload of the website working?
Please trz to connect with another FTP program like Filezilla to the hosting server to check if it works.
The connection usually is blocked by the antivirus/firewall, like paul suggested.
You can try to start the program as admin with the right click option to see if after you get the notification that the program wants to connect and you need to allow it.
Please keep me updated.

No I still can't get the upload to work again.
I've disabled the firewall and antivirus - still no connection to the Incomedia servers to even update X5.
How do I start the program as admin?
Right-click on the X5 program shortcut and from the fly-out menu select the 'Run as administrator' option. This will start X5 as normal, except you will have enhanced privileges which are sometimes needed to prompt Windows to ask you if you wish to open the firewall to let X5 traffic pass.
The above assumes that you have a modern operating system, e.g. Windows 7 - if you are on XP or similar then it will not apply.
PS: check also the hardware firewall on your router. You must have access rules in place which allow FTP traffic on port 21

Solved it - I have found that my Norton Internet Security had become corrupted. Just re-installed it and X5 is now working as normal. Website now updated successfully.
Thank you for your excellent support and advice - really appreciated.

same problem
Hi, I have the same problem.
After opening up the program, and trying to click things like "Video Tutorial" on the side bars, my browser just opens a Server Error 503 (Service unavailable), so I dont get anywhere...
I have updated to the most recent version by "download", and also deactivated all antivirus/firewall systems.
I hope someone can help :'(
